I was actually thinking the same thing - it's basically a shop fit bike that you could actually (kind of) ride. There are plenty of places that will do a full workup on a fit bike, and then use a database to find you the closest commercial frame and size to what is your ideal geometry. Something like this could be ridden to confirm that the ergos are right before you sign on the line.... if it wasn't 116 lbs and floppier than a drunk daschund.

The fabrication is so high quality. I used to work for an aerospace company that built hydraulic components for fixed wing and rotary aircraft using CNC machining. Your work is on a par with theirs and they used massive CNC machines. Great bit of fun but I think you could have offset the weight by making it an e-bike. As you had to have a power supply for the pump you could have used the same source to drive the bike motor. Great looking project.

I would totally be down to watch you hack together a 2WD e-bike of preposterous speed. You will need a teeny spot welder to make it happen, though, since the battery pack would likely need to be custom-made from a whole load of Li-Po cells. Something vaguely like a dirt bike design would be most useful since you could swap the tires around between slick and knobbly tires to cope with various terrain issues if you wanted to take it off-road. While I thoroughly enjoy your more eccentric videos, I think a somewhat more functional one every now and again could also be great fun. Plus, you could make it look like some of the old British motorbikes, since the form isn't dependent on a fuel tank and engine size.

If you really want to go full overkill... 2WD *electrohydraulic* or *hydropneumatic* or both. Electric + Hydraulic + Pneumatic, seamlessly melded together... Not just with Electrohydraulic 2WD and Hydropneumatic suspension, but also Electrohydraulic Braking and Shifting. Just over-engineer everything.
@mndlessdrwer
@mndlessdrwer 2 жыл бұрын
@@AmaroqStarwind it would certainly be interesting, but it's pretty difficult to beat a decent electric motor for efficient use of energy for motion. Now, if he were to use hydraulics to change the shape of the bike frame based on speed to go from a cup bike style short frame at low speed to a longer drag bike frame at high speed for enhanced stability, that would be awesome. Extend the rear fork, change the angle of rake for the front fork, that kind of thing. Install servos on the front wheel faring so it moves forward slightly when the rake is increased so it stays at about the same position... Yeah, that could potentially work out. He would need to engineer out the wobble inherent in just using hydraulics, maybe via the use of box tubes for the rear fork with Teflon bearing surfaces? Regardless, that would be rad.

This man could make a fortune on defense contracts if he were to focus on weapon design, but he rather put his ingenuity in silly fun projects that don't contribute to the violence and destruction of the world. He may or may not be a world peace advocate, but I'm sure the idea has at least been introduced to him or crossed his mind, and for him to not go for it not only attests to his "anti war" stance I alluded to, it also shows that he isn't motivated by greed. Just a humble human being inspiring creativity in others. Thank you Colin! I've been a viewer since 2007 and always enjoy your content and enthusiasm in your projects.
