I have been in recovery for 24 years. Your equipment was sorely underrated for this recovery BUT the way you utilized anchors, leverage, and additional ballast (vehicles) was quite impressive. I am extremely impressed at your efficiency and cool head during this damn near impossible recovery.

my guess, 3/8th c channel forming the front bumper with 1/2" brackets heading back and be bolted 2 each frame rail by 2 1/2" bolts and than a 3/4" piece of flat stock welded horizontally to the canter of the bumper with a 1" hole for d-rings i have a similar setup strength wise but i also tapped into the frame railes vertically with 2 bolts giving a total of 8 bolts holding it on and mines a little more elaborate with a stinger and power steering box guard and led lights with winch mounted in the center the frame rails will shed before the bumper breaks

@drubradley8821
@drubradley8821 6 жыл бұрын
WOW... that was interestingly stressful... lol... That old ZJ must have had some unified body strengthening plates added to the front end... I am not telling you what to do or not do, but, the next time that you have one stuck in the suction, have the owner of the stuck rig, dig two holes, one on each side, right behind the front tires... fill each hole with 10 to 15 gallons of water "each"... that sounds like allot of running back and forth, but a few % gallon buckets with lids, does the trick..Once the water is in the holes, already have your rigging attached as it of course will get even more messy, and tug a wee bit, let off, tug a wee bit ,let off, repeat a few times, even though, the stuck vehicle only moves a half inch, and falls right back into the spot it was in. Yes, the water sounds like it would cause the suction to get worse, but, in my years of my emergency recover towing career, that was a trick that was shown to me, by an old timer, and does wonders on not ripping the stuck vehicle to pieces or causing additional stress to the recovery rig. Likewise, if the stuck vehicle needs to go backwards, the holes need to be dug out at the location in front of the back wheels. It was exampled to me like a stuck rusty nut & bolt, and squirting WD-40 and working it back & forth, to get things to slide... Good luck, have fun and be safe everybody... Dru

Eric is limited on what he is allowed to do towing vehicles out of these spots. Its offroad parks and he is not allowed to alter obstacles so he has to tow according to what he is told. At times he is not even allowed to use snatch blocks .

throw some wide boards under the rear tires and anchor the truck with a tree and out she goes....not up hill ripping the truck in half......and yes that means you get muddy but shit doesn't get broken...he was worried about damaging an already flat tire......and it doesn't matter front or rear winch......either way it's just nice the guy is volunteering his time to do this shit in the first place

I was getting anxiety watching all that tension on those lines. I’m glad everything went safely.

that just looks painfull. I like 4wd trails and rocks and hard courses but I fear deep mud like that. Not something I every want to get into again. Had 95 Jeep 2d cherokee 120 feet off packed dirt out into a plowed field after a rain.. Paid for that for 2 months getting me pulled out... Never again... Great job.

is that the winch cable I hear I might start over and use this as a parts vehicle, aint no way you are going to get mud off everything.

Americans. If the jeep get stucked in a fresh concrete, you'd probably use a tank, to pull it out.
