An underappreciated Walter Hill classic like Streets of Fire. Also, with stand-out performances from Nick Nolte, Rip Torn, and Clancy Brown. Thank you for bringing attention to this film.

Thank you for watching! Was always a personal fave of mine. Hill has many underseen films. Trespass is another one too.

I feel Water Hill's most underrated film is THE DRIVER. Great film.

Thank you, Erik, for another fantastic video 🙏🙏🙏 Walter Hill is one of the greatest ever, and it's appreciable to hear from a Texan on this film, especially 🙏🙏🙏 Thank you also for mentioning the score by Jerry Goldsmith, another true genius.

That's the greatest damn trailer I've ever seen! Extreme Prejudice just ekes it into my top 5 Hill films, probably, but is a classic all the same. Life ended in 1989. We'll all realise that one day.

Jerry Goldsmith's score is otherworldly, he says. How right he is!

Every movie you named I have on streaming or DVD/Blu-ray. But I never thought to relate it to the director. I watch Peckinpaugh's "The Wild Bunch" every year I'm home on my birthday.

Hill openly admited Sam Peckinpah since he wrote the script for The Getaway. This last shootout is modeled onThe Wild Bunch.

Now imagine all that... but with a ninja. Just add a ninja to the story. To facilitate the insertion, make it a pulp novel and change the language to Serbo-Croat. Oh wait... It's been done already. Back in the '80s and (early) '90s in Yugoslavia, popularity of ninja movies brought about a creation of a monthly pulp novel about an American Ninja who fought crime and injustice by slicing and dicing whole armies of bad guys and evildoers. Coming up with 150 typed pages featuring a brand new ninja adventure every month being somewhat tasking, Derek Finegan (nom de plume of a cartoonist and writer Branislav - Brana Nikolić) resorted to (more like resided) swiping entire existing movies, characters, plot and all - and adding a ninja into it. Also sex. As graphic as violence, tucked in between the lines, unbeknownst to censors or parents. Still, with some very creative use of the term extremity. As in limb. But not an arm or a leg. Off the top of my head I can remember another episode being a line by line retelling of The Punisher (1989) with Dolph Lundgren. A story which features ninjas and yakuza already - now with one more ninja, fighting the yakuza and the mob along with the Punisher.
