While the wash itself may not damage it (especially those with neoprene material that some D&S and this Autec machine uses), it’s the dirt that gets trapped into the microfiber type washes that will scratch your paint over time. Great video, btw!

Sand particles will also "stick" to the foam material as well. Where I operated and worked we had so many muddy vehicles, and it's impossible to flush it out of the hiding places without disassembling the trim pieces and spraying the inner tops of the wheel wells.

Brushes do scratch your paint if there's no water on them..as it happens to my car..it cost that car wash a big one my whole car needed a paint job..

Carwashes give swirl marks. As someone who works at a brand new Carwash I can honestly say that carwashes can damage your car.

A few things I have to say: 1. Swirl marks are not scratches, and they are not a problem whatsoever. 2. The source of swirl marks aren't car washes. 3. Some car washes increase the luster in a vehicles finish actually.

@@disneyfan9099 Car Wash precious actually don’t scratch vehicles, they constantly rinsed with a mixture of water and shampoo, shampoo to provide lubrication and water to constantly rinse off the brushes, it’s actually hand washing that causes damage

If new Cars go trough a Carwash how come they get Swirls and scratches ? What i always do is check the brushes for discolouration... If they are discoloured they are dirty. That dirt will cause scratches. I use a non contact wash using a 2L Pump to spray on the presoak (100ml foam and 1900mm water) let it sit for a while.... 180bar high pressure rinse... And non contact wax and a spotfreee rinse. Aslong as there's any contact it will cause a scratch/swirl... Nothing anyone can do about that.

You’re right, contact to a car’s paint will cause swirls, it’s inevitable. Even driving the cars will generate swirls. Soft touch automatic car washes will do their best to minimize swirls however.

Well, it was I believe in about 2000, and I was 4. And in it we weren’t exactly in the car wash, but my dad did drive home with me and my brother inside the car, and i guess he went to bring something. And he locked the door. One minute has passed and two brushes make their way into the car and suffocate me and my brother. And then it’s all dark black for about 9 hours. And then I got a thought where my dad was holding my hand and running up the stairs yelling “up and jumping”. I was confused and was scared to be in the car when dad went to get something.

False. The brushes are 1: designed not to absorb water or dirt, and 2: even with friction against the surface with solid contaminants (mud, salt, etc.) there are soaps designed to increase lubrication between the brushes and the car. The brushes are also rinsed with every turn, which will fling off any dirt sticking to the brush.
