Great testing! It's really neat how UHF frequencies kind of just fade away in the distance, maybe I'm not explaining it well, but yeah, that's awesome you got 8 mi out of it!

I have the original, non-plus, S-88G and absolutely love it. To my ear, it transmits even more clearly than my Q10G and all of my other GMRS radios. I do wish it had NOAA weather support, but maybe the fact that it’s single-band only is also why it transmits and receives so well…. The old saying, keep it simple stupid! I also love the non-color display, it’s so much easier to see.

@@Godspreparedwarrior I do appreciate that brother! I saw your temp antenna with the black tripod mount and I immediately thought that is genius! That radio is the same little Radioddity db20g that I have. I did a quick video with it on mobile antennas, and also just recently that radio pack video. That little radio will definitely talk the talk!

Antennas aside, the fact that the radio has a superheterodyne receiver helps a lot in reception.

@@johnh3493 This says 18" long, which typically would be a 2m/70cm (similar to Signal Sticks). The normal length for a 771 on GMRS is 15" for a 5/8 wave. I will get one and check it out on a bunch of different radios.

If you go back and review some of your other radio tests, the Tid Radio is as good if not better at the same distance. Take the Tid radio out and do a side by side unless it hurts your sponsorship dollars from Wouxun.
@FirstUnitedTactical7 күн бұрын
You're right, the H3 can make this distance sometimes, just like all of my radios will "sometimes" do it. It all depends on the weather. I've promoted the H3 from this distance in the past, and now it's someone else's turn. I still love the H3, and yes it's one of the strongest little radios I have, but I can't do only H3 videos.

Any tips on using bluetooth? Mine worked with my Anker earbuds but they don't have physical volume buttons and it seems like bluetooth disables the volume knob on the radio. It was so loud that I had to hold the earbud about an inch from my ear.
@FirstUnitedTactical6 күн бұрын
@fondy44 I have used my Apple Pro's and also my Libratone Track Air buds. There is no volume control, but perfect sound. I'm not sure why your Anker's are so loud. Do you have another pair of different brand buds to try out?

Just noticed something odd about Menu item 16 Priority Scan. Both the old and new manuals list the options as On or Off but mine has a third option called RX Close. Any idea what that one does?
