I thought it was brand new haha. Their music is just so timeless. It's like cosmic lightning bolt smacks you right upside the head just when you need it 😁 I only saw VH once in 1998 as I live in oz, but I lined up at 2am to meet them and was like 2nd in line! I took photos too with my disposable kodak camera that I had to stuff in my pants so security would not arrest me! Greatest day of my life! I got to meet Edward, Alex, Mike and Gary. Then we had 2nd row for the concert as I camped out for about 36hrs with no food. We had beers and a bong though so that was good 🤗 I cannot even believe I met them! There was never any real reason for van halen to come to Australia other than a holiday tbh. We have stuff all people and it costs a lot to come here and plus they have to be invited by a promoter.. You guys in the USA are so damn lucky to have this musical machine.. We saw Aerosmith the 3 times but nothing like what you get.. Pearl Jam, Metallica, Vai and Satch, they all seem to venture downunder so they can enjoy a nice summer which is between sept and march really..

@@ultimatesoup Yeah, new stuff is good, especially Nuno obviously, but it definitely has a darker more Alice In Chains vibe to some of the songs. Nothing wrong with AIC, but I like miss some of the more upbeat (happy) and funky grooves too.

Man, I remember seeing the MTV video for the song “More than words” in the 80’s. Just getting okay on guitar back then, I wanted to learn the song so I bought the album on cassette tape by Extreme, Pornograffitti. That’s the way we learned songs back then and “more than words” was the only song I knew they played. But I listened to the whole album anyway, expecting a bunch of acoustic duet ballads. I was completely blown away by the rest of the album, wondering who the hell this insane guitarist is?! Nobody in the world played better than that, holy crap! (and still don’t), but “more than words” was beautiful and easy to play and everyone at a party would sing along screwing up the harmony vocals but it was fun. The other songs on the album? I wouldn’t consider trying to play in a million years. Nuno was/is just out of this world and has his own style nobody can really copy. And I was the first of my friends that played music to ask them, “Hey, you guys know that band Extreme who does that ‘more than words’ video on MTV?” And most of them said, “Yeah, that’s a nice song…” And I stuck the cassette tape in the tape deck and hit play. “This is them.” My friends were blown away! “Are you sure that’s the More than Words band?” Because every other song on the album was nothing like the pretty little duet we were familiar with, it didn’t seem possible these were the same guys. I played that cassette tape in my truck stereo until the heat in Hawaii finally ate it up. So I bought a new one. Then CD’s were invented so I bought a copy of Pornograffitti on CD. More than Words was good but I’d memorized every word of all the other songs, looking at my guitar thinking, I’ll never be able to play as good as Nuno. And after 30 some years later, and playing guitar most my life, I just accept that Nuno is from outer space and no human from earth should even attempt what he’s doing. So I just listen mesmerized. One of my favorite bands of all time. 🤙🏼
