I'm blind, and I've lived through two tornadoes. They both occured ten years apart from each other on April 4, 1974 and 1984. They really do sound like a jetliner taking off or even a fighter jet flying right over you.

The way it picked up that house at 0:19 and disintegrated it reminds me of the Hesston, Kansas F5 tornaado from 1990 which also picked up a house and disintegrated it. The ground scouring from this tornado near Katie, Oklahoma was also incredible.
@1chrisanderson Жыл бұрын
The 2022 Andover KS tornado did the same thing but was only rated EF3, this is why people need to move past the sensationalized idea of Fujita ratings and consider the actual wind velocity and number of subvortices as well as streamwise vorticity current and updraft intensity.
@alexlubbers15898 жыл бұрын
that has to be an f4. the way it shredded those homes in less than a second and how fast the vortex was spinning is just incredible. the roar also shows how strong that thing was.

I just posted in another or by myself I forgot but I believe this had to have gone past 200 at some point I've never seen one that was at violent because they're usually you know rain wrapped or covered around debris or occasionally you can see the core drill bit of these things but is it the west? I thought a fudge also had to be a certain with like at least a half mile I could be misinformed but I thought that size and wind speed wasn't F5 thing although we all know big doesn't have to mean strong however I just thought they had to be three quarters or something or it was enough for but that one in Canada that tore up that house got enough five and this reminds me of that I'm trying to think why I was drawing that comparison but yeah so with doesn't matter but I still think that was however maybe it has to at least be a quarter mile idk I did hear that from a source though I'm just not claiming it's a source I should take to the bank
It was an EF-4, but there's some EF-5 tornadoes that are a lot stronger, but I haven't even heard a roar like that from them!

I'm confused, is this tornado continue and grow into the wedge at the end of the video? Or, is that wedge tornado a different tornado? I'm under the impression that the Sulphur wedge and the Wynnewood stove pipe tornadoes are the same tornado.

+BackPackDirty this is an El Nino year so tornado season hasn't been like what we usually see...2011 was a record high year in Apri l alone over 750 tornadoes touched down and many were F3 and higher! The significance of El Nino means we typically will see stronger tornadoes later in the season (end of May and June/July). It's been relatively mild!

Was rated an EF4, but the intense rotation and ground scouring observed makes me wonder if this thing was borderline (or briefly even) EF5? Still an insane monster, regardless of rating.

Gefu Men the F and EF scale are very different. F stands for fujita scale. in 2007 they came up with the EF scale enhanced fujita scale. the difference between them is wind speed. they rate tornadoes based on wind speed and damage The EF scale goes EF0--EF5. this tornado was rated an EF-4

I'm sorry that's one of the most powerful tornadoes I've seen that wasn't rain wrapped or cluttered with debris and if any other train spotters or meteorologists could tell me whether an F5 has to be at least a half a mile or something? I could be wrong I thought when I can't even have five it was also with because I find it hard to believe that one wasn't exceeding 200 mph at several points if not more because usually ones that are spinning that fast you can't really see the core updraft drill like that but the thing seems to be at least a quarter mile and I would just want to get out of that thing's way because I already saw footage of that thing tossing a giant truck like nothing.
@1chrisanderson Жыл бұрын
This is why the rating of a tornado is a flawed metric for judging strength. The EF rating has little to do with intensity and windspeed, and everything to do with observed damage to structures - especially important for insurance claims. I'm of the strong opinion that velocity and EF rating need to be assigned as separate pieces of data.... everyone is so fixated on the sensational idea of an EF5 when that barely matters because it didn't do enough damage to human structures. A tornado that would conventionally be assigned an EF3 rating in terms of windspeed could be rated as an EF5 simply because it moved horizontally across the ground very slowly and had a prolonged effect on an area
