Just for the record, people perfer cash in America because it isn’t taxable , and if you buy jewelry in cash then the jeweler can just pocket all the money. Even on a lower scale most gas stations charge credit card fees since they can keep more of the money if paid in cash. It’s weird but better in every way here

Kind of… for jewelry that can make sense, but say your going to the supermarket for some groceries. After they scan your food items the total (including tax) is already totaled. If the transaction is done electronically then you can really get around the tax. Kind of like getting paid under the table

Like others have said, cash works great in America (and by America I mean the USA) vs credit or debit. Lots of businesses, especially gas stations, will charge less for cash because of the “processing” fee that is charged for card purchases. It costs the business less to deal in cash, and so they will sometimes discount purchases made in cash in order to encourage more cash purchases. If they make a sale and the customer pays with a card, the business owner has to pay a small transaction fee for the privilege of letting a customer pay with plastic. And it’s usually a percentage (say 2%) so it makes sense that the larger the purchases are the happier they are to take cash instead cause they don’t have to pay that percentage. Sometimes they sneakily make the customer pay that percentage. They get away with this by NOT charging MORE for card purchases (which would be illegal), but by charging LESS for cash purchases (which isn’t illegal, lol!). It’s an interesting game that they play. This doesn’t even include the other reasons to deal in cash, such as avoiding taxes and stuff if you make a cash sale and then don’t report it. Cards are always tracked, but the IRS (USA’s tax agency) will see that. So if you deal in cash you can hide some of your sales and cheat the taxes.
