I never saw this method of putting thread through the CENTER hole and then through the little one. This way the initial beginning of the thread stays closer to the bobbin post. I’ve been sewing for 60 yrs on several different brands and I’ve never seen a manual explain it this way. I’ll do it this way from now on! Thanks for a great demonstration!

Why the arrogant/ negative comments about "having learned this in the past or not reading the manual"? FYI the machine i have has an automatic winder and the instructions do not show this way of threading the bobbin. Even if it did, why criticize someone for not reading it? Maybe they don't have the manual. Maybe they're so excited to sew they jump in and just go for it. Perhaps look at this this lack of basic knowledge as an opportunity to help spread the knowledge. Positivity is better than negativity especially when there is no call for it.

I started sewing in the 1950s and I've done this since I got my own machine in 65. My mother's machine was wound by the hand-wheel and it wasn't easy to figure out. My machine, I could hang on to the thread that I put through the hole and it would break after a few twists around. I now have a Pfaff that has a little groove that will grab the thread since the hole is gone.

It appears that the older sewers (like myself) ever knew the right way to insert the thread. And in all the machines I have owned, not one shows to thread it the way it was shown here. So to those who thought this video was a waste of time, think again. And it begs the question, if you are so smart that you k ew this, then why did you watch in the first place.

Are you SERIOUS? This is the exact reason the hole was put there in the first place - it isn't an "extremely interesting" use of the hole it is the INTENDED use of the hole. That is like saying, "Hey great idea, you can insert thread through that hole in the end of the needle!"🙄
@pleasebekind91155 ай бұрын
True, but unfortunately that is not written anywhere in the instruction booklet that came with my machine nor have I seen it on any of the many sewing videos I’ve watched. One of my pet peeves about my machine is the poor quality of the instruction booklet (and yes, I understand that a hard copy of an instruction booklet is somewhat of a relic) and this is a perfect example. It never would have occurred to me to use that second hole that way so I’m appreciative of the info. I feel that it absolutely should be included in the info that comes with the machine.

I've been very lucky that both my nana and my mum were self taught, so they'd found things out through trial and error, I'm still doing that now and so excited about my new to me machine, the Husqvarna Viking Designer 1.
