I know this is very late but it is probably also partly due to him wanting the owners of the animals to come back, because if a veteran insults you saying your a poor owner and they find out that person will most likely not come back. Because if I brought my pet in for any reason and found out I was bashed on then I would never come back. Tho no matter what he is being a cool and caring dude.

This is certainly all right. But: wouldn't it have been up to the parents to inform themselves (together with their daughter, of course) about the keeping and especially about the nutrition of this bird species? I would certainly have given this to the father to think about, so that such mistakes would not happen again later, for example, when another child is to have a pet.

@@KTPStudios04 But one thing must be clear to you: in this way the girl will never really internalize what she did wrong. If she gets a new/other pet at some point, she will probably make the same mistake again. It would be better to say clearly what she did wrong, why it was wrong and to point out that she has to inform herself BEFORE buying a pet, instead of ending up afterwards with a sick pet at the vet because of nutrition and/or wrong keeping. And the same applies to the parents, whose task it would have been to guide their daughter in the necessary information procurement.

He's so kind to Jasmine. He's wonderful trying to help this little girl care for her bird properly. He's just such a wonderful doctor in every way. It is always the responsibility of the parents of a child to help a child learn everything about the proper care & feeding of any & all pets they acquire for that child. So, if a parent or parents agree they're going to agree to purchase or otherwise acquire a specific pet for their child, those parents must learn all about the best of the foods they're feeding that pet no matter when that pet is most hungry and most active. The reason they get liver damage is from seeds and are trapped in their cage. My bird doesn’t have a cage and freely roams the house, has full grown fully flighted wings and eats a mix of fruit and vegetables everyday. Every time we take her in for a check up the vet is shocked at how healthy she is compared to other patients. I think that everyone should keep their bird this way.

My budgie Aussie has/had liver disease. Before we got Aussie, she was only really fed seed. I have three other budgies, and I gave the budgies apple occasionally, and that taught the other birds that other foods taste good too. Aussie is quite old, and had a big lump on her chest, she suddenly had diarrhoea, and green droppings. We separated her from the other birds. Aussie was staying in the same spot most of the time, and not liking going out of the cage. Then, I started feeding the birds SPINACH! Spinach is the the vegetable that saved Aussie. At the moment, Aussie has a tiny lump on her chest, and is on natural wood perches/ sticks I found on outside. The birds LOVE spinach, and I love spinach too. I am very happy that Aussie has gotten better, and fitter. The lesson here is: feed your birds not only seed, but mostly dark greens like spinach and broccoli.

My birdie had same problem and we had to cut his beak at the vet. My birds didn’t grow back thankfully. I’m so happy by seeing how chris is so gentle with the cute little chicken… a human for me shows humanity by treating animals well.

More from me. Her cuddle bone should hang on the side of the cage. And the whole cage should have fun toys for Bubbles to chew on. Wooden ones. That lovely little bird owner should be reading her head off. When i got my first bird i bought a few books on the type of bird. That was years ago and i never stopped reading. Birds are fascinating creatures!

I don’t think 8 is a good age for bird ownership, unless the parents are willing to do all the work and the child is just doing small parts of the care.

Atomic betty the reticulated python is my favorite. Although I like burms and BPs bc of their better temperment I just love how it's a python named atomic betty. That's my childhood and my life now combined into one giant dorky danger noodle.

The bird needs some hard wood to chew on to keep her beak in good shape. I have a 40 year old Amazon parrot who beak will grow like a weed if I don't give her things to grown on. I've never giving her bird food from the pet shop, I feed her things she wold find in the wild. She loves chewing on hard nuts and hard woods.

Birds as intelligent as cockatiels get bored with their chewies too. It looks like all he's got in there is a cuttlebone, and while thats good for calcium its not exactly fun or intereating after a few years.

Everyone needs to realise/remember that many, many years ago there was far less info about pet nutrition and many pets still would have been healthy/seamingly healthly to the owners so there's little to no reason to look up info that you have already learnt many years prior and told is true.

Companies still make unhealthy foods targeted to species that aren't even supposed to eat that. For example, they sell yogurt treats full of sugar and dairy for rabbits. You should never feed them that, yet pet stores, including major ones still sell those products.

I love how jasmine took in the information , I am 10yo myself, and my alexandrine parrot broke his leg while fledging , we got him as a baby, he is better now, we also have 3 budgies we have until our friend comes back from her holiday, we have them all on the birdtricks seasonal feeding system, and they are happy and healthy. Lots of people make the diet mistake, and don’t get the info, jasmine got the info and took it in.

My grandmother had 2 budgies named Lancelot and Guinevere when I was growing up. I remember that their cage was their bedroom and they did everything outside. Pellet, veggies and water dishes and tons of toys. They never left each other's side. When Guin died Lance was destroyed and never came out of his room. He passed from heart ache for his mate... birds deserve so much better than that poor girl was getting
