On August 5, 2021, I captured several "blue jets," a rare form of upper atmospheric lightning that are labeled as transient luminous events (TLE). These were captured in the small town of Rio Rico, Arizona from a distance of about 100 miles. Blue jets are difficult to capture and require a camera with high sensitivity to light and wide aperture lenses. In addition, very dark skies are required to see blue jets, sprites, or other TLEs. Arizona's dark skies are a favorite amongst astrophotographers, and southern Arizona provides incredible views of the Milky Way, meteors, stars, and the night sky.
Captured on the Sony alpha 1 camera and Sony FE 50mm f/1.2 lens (This is not a sponsored video). DM for licensing.
