I have another Sonora phonograph called the Barcarolle which was a tabletop model from about 1916 to 1924 depending on what year that it was made, and it’s pretty darn rare, and you don’t see them too often. It can play all acoustic 78’s as well as electrically recorded 78’s from 1925-29, and some later ones from about 1930’s through the 1950’s if you are using a soft tone steel needle. I know many people complaining that prewar and postwar 78’s it might ruin your records, but I don’t think so. It plays really good.

This was the rolls Royce of gramophones!! As well as Columbia de luxe, a kurtman glass gramophone, and Columbia Mignon, as well as an Edison (I forgot the model name) designed after a building in polished walnut and ormolu design.

Mr. Turkeydoodlers, could you please post the serial number of this wonderful and amazing Art Model Sonora Jacobean ? Most of the Art Models from this era, had very low serial numbers, and I and others would be curious to know if Sonora had a unique series of numbers for its Art Models, or whether their Serial numbers just progressed by each machine produced regardless of the model. Thanks. and congratulations on your remarkable find. Victrolaman

@Turkeydoodlers Yes,you should demonstrate twisting that carved wood tone arm to the Vertical Groove position, insert the Pathe stylus saphire needle, and play a nice Pathe Record to the delight of everyone who will watch the unique and fascinating demonstration.

@edisone1 Yes you can't post even the link here or copy and paste the PDF file, but it mentions that George Brightman, the president of the Sonora Phonograph Co. was responsible for installing a Sonora Jacobean art model phonograph in the Oak Room of the famous Waldorf-Asptoria Hotel, and visitors to the room have commented enthusiastically on the Artistic Appearance of this Sonora Art Model. This was taken from the Music trade review section of "Talking Machine World" dated June 3, 1922.

Reading the title under this video I thought there is a Maximilian Robespierre voice recorded just before he entered guillotine.

Mr. Turkey Doodlers. Can you please demonstrate how to adjust the tone arm to play Vertical Groove records, either an Edison or a Pathe. Since you have the proper needles to play either, I am sure most everyone who views that video will find it fascinating. Victrolaman

@TheRiqzster Lol yes I realized that after I posted the video plus I mumbled to lol geesh.. But you know what I meant:) Every time I have people over and look at my collection they are in awe of this machine, I rebuilt the electric light on it so that works once again. I need to make a few new videos of it with the light working.

What a strange tonearm! Sonora always had strange tone arms, saw a video of one that didn't move along the grooves, but was moved by a feed screw. They had some good music on there records too.

That’s right! “Clear As A Bell” was one of Sonora’s memorable slogans and “The Instrument of Quality” was another memorable slogan. I love this.
