If you don't mind me asking, what do you do about the guttering/waste that comes off the roof? Also, does a roof in poor condition (i.e. lots of broken/missing roof tiles) affect your decision to do the job or how you do it?

Every job is different and you have to decide what the best approach will be. I will block up the down pipes before we start cleaning. A lot of the work is in the clean up afterwards, clearing out the gutters and the debris below.😃👍🏼

You thought about adding a boiler mate for steam cleaning all them black spots would come off then or hypo instead of boiside i find the bio only really works for stoping the moss growing back takes a long time to see the results if u don’t power wash and only scrape the moss and use bio ,good job anyway I bet the clean up on that was a long one ☝️ all the best mate

Yeah, steam would be good. There is a lot of work in the clean up. We use plastic sheeting to catch the worst of it.😃👍🏼

Great video Ashley, how you do you decide which roofs/tiles to use this method on? Is there such a think as a roof not suitable for pressure washing? Bad state of repair aside. What about all these roofers saying you’ve ruined that roof lol. I currently offer scrap and bio but want to use this method too. Be good to get a video about your approach to each job and the risks to consider. I’m just bricking it that water is gonna come through the roof lol.

Yes, we hire the scaffold tower and line up a couple of jobs together to make it worthwhile. We did two smaller roofs a couple of days before this one.💪🏼😃👍🏼

And where goes all dirt and hard stuff? Down the gutter? I dont see any "catcher" before going into ground pipes. If they are conected to sewers no problem but if there is only natural draining after this is totally clogged.

Yes we block the down pipes. There is a lot of work in the clean up afterwards. We dumped the muck on the compost heap at the bottom of the garden.😃👍🏼

Hypo is very harsh. I personally would never use it on a roof. I use biocide, which is great because it won’t harm the surface at all, it just kills the organic growth.👍🏼

We always include a biocide treatment after cleaning to help prevent organic growth returning so quickly, and we recommend a repeat treatment about every 3 years.

We don’t have roofs with shingles in the UK. I wouldn’t use SH on a roof as it could be damaging. Everyone has their own approach I suppose, and different roofs need different methods to clean them.😃👍🏼

Yes! It’s the biocide treatment afterwards that prevents it getting dirty again so quickly. Try GK Pro. Once it’s been cleaned you should treat it with biocide every couple of years or so to keep it well maintained.😃👍🏼

The moss can ultimately cause damage, and block the gutters. It holds moisture which will freeze in winter and can cause tiles to crack. Once the moss has been removed I recommend a regular treatment of biocide every 4/5 years to keep the roof well maintained.👍🏼

This is actually very bad for the tiles, you'll notice the run off water is red which means it's taking the top layer off the tiles.

I always recommend a regular application of biocide after cleaning. If this is done every 2/3 years or so, it’s a great way to maintain the roof without the need for intensive cleaning again.👍🏼
