MOTORHOME TOUR - LOCARNO 🇨🇭 STRANDED!

European Motorhome Tour day 41. We head to Locarno in Switzerland which is still on Lake Maggiore, it really is that big! We stay on an aire right in the the centre of Locarno, great for exploring! And Exploring we do... we take the wonderful Funicular to the base of the Gondola at Orseline. There's plenty to see at the top of the Gondola including an amazing viewing platform. We head higher still on the side saddle chairlift where we head even higher to the Cima Della Trosa, what a journey we took to be here. Hope we get down ok!!

Great videos Andy and Michelle. Really well put together with the mix of graphics and accompanying music. I've been binge-watching them to see how you get on with a motorhome in various locations. My wife and I are looking to buy one in the next few months. I did have one question...sorry if it's been asked before...do you tend to book ahead for motorhome sites or do you find you can just turn up and get a pitch? I guess it depends on avoiding favoured tourist times/seasons?

Hi Kevin, its great to hear you are enjoyed our channel 😀 We rarely book ahead when in Europe, instead preferring the freedom to follow the sun, the flexibility to stay as long or as short as we like and to discover new places as we travel based on recommendations as we travel. The one disadvantage is obviously when in high season sites can be full, in Europe there are lots of alternatives and the key is arrive early say between 10-12 as people are leaving, that generally works. Sites in the UK are not as flexible, they tend to want to know how long you are staying, don't allow arrivals before midday and theres not really the concept of the Aires as there is in Europe. The club sites in the UK are often full so we would book those in advance, sometimes up to a year ahead for the popular ones like Castleton / Chatsworth at Christmas. Hi guys, great video as always. I have a question for you. Do you ever find your van to be too big? Has it limited where you can go? We currently have an 8.6m tag which does, so looking to downsize to sun 7m, possibly a 143, but would love to hear about your experience please. Thank you!

Hi Phil, we think at 7.5m we have a good compromise between being able to get onto pitches without worrying about length but still having the space and comfort. We don't feel the need to go smaller unless we wanted to go really small to be able to park anywhere - but we have too much stuff in the garage to do that! 😀 cheers...Andy&Michelle

@@MarkLeabon yes, would be nice to have a universal one, they do exist and cover a few but not all countries, downside is they have a monthly subscription so not worth it unless using most of the year
