Great video! Thank you for including the top/down view of the Martin MiterX. I really enjoyed you going through the entire work flow.

Steve, watching all of those precise, and repeatable compound cuts done on the slider, makes me want to sell my miter saw. 😁👍🏻

I seldom use the miter saw in the shop as the slider is more accurate and safer. Steve

Hi Pat. I would call it near perfect but not 100%. Still need client approval on the custom lid inlays before proceeding. Steve

Steve, absolutely well thought engineering and beautiful result! Love the 3D printed jigs including the glue bottle holder, very very nice.

Thank you James. The glue bottle holder was a definite necessity for the Quick and Thick glue. Steve

Steve, I always learn something valuable in your videos. I'm sure you 3D printed your glue bottle holder. That's brilliant! I love quick and thick, but it has to be held upside-down while working with it. My version is more crude and was made on the fly in 5 minutes. Love the level of detail you put into thinking through your entire process. Thanks.

Thank you Derek. The holder was 3D printed and it has been working great. I used to use the dog holes in my bench to hold the bottle but it was not very stable. Steve

I know its a simple box but your work is really nice. I really like the way the grain flowed around the box. Your shop tools are also so nice. Based on the templates you have to make this would I be correct in guessing that you batch out a number of these at a time?
@extremewoodworker Жыл бұрын
Hi Andy. While these boxes may look simple, it is amazing how complex they are to design and construct since there isn't a right angle in any of them. I should have marked the pieces as I cut them to make grain alignment easier. I always batch boxes as it makes little sense to make just one due to machine setup time. These were prototypes and my first with splayed sides so this was a very small run for me ( usually do 15-25 at a time). I started with enough stock to make 6 boxes but ended up with 5. I lost one due to figuring out the clamp fixture on the Hoffmann machine as it took two iterations to arrive at the final fixture (the green one). The lids are individually customized so I will do these on an as needed basis. Steve

Hi Steve, our team really liked your video and we had the cast line instrument to work with you. But it's depressing not to find your business email...

Jeez, I would be an extreme woodworker if I had $150,000 worth of the latest, state-of-the-art premium, industrial woodworking equipment in a $350,000 workshop. I've made tapered, octagonal containers on my crappy, 33 year old, Sears Craftsman table saw with a few jigs and beveled router bits.
@extremewoodworker Жыл бұрын
Great! Make a video showing your octagonal container build, provide the link in a reply to your comment, and I will provide it as a recommended video on the endscreen of this one. I have made this challenge to a number of people making comments similar to yours over the past 10 years and, to date, no one has accepted. I expect this one will be no different. Steve
