The production atlas will be powered by 4240 160kv motors. It is possible to buy the extra drivetrain and esc as an accessory to make the rwd atlas to awd atlas. There will be hub and direct drive powertrains suited for the atlas in near future. There will be an 11” rkp trist truck released later this year. The second batch of atlas is expected to be shipped by around June.

After evaluating the variables from various boards and then my person needs regarding range, I decided to get the Exway Atlas 4WD. I know lots of people are probably going to say I'm stupid cuz the range is sub par and the motors aren't big enough. However after looking into the pro's vs con's of manufactured eboards vs dyi eboards, this board seems to be the best bang for the buck with the least amount of risk and maintenance. I debated on going with a Trampa build but all things considered it was going to be significantly more expensive and was still leaving me less confident with regards to safety.

I enjoyed the vid Lee. I have a soft spot for Exway since I own a Flex and it got me invested in e-skate very quickly to the point that I wanted an all-terrain board. I was looking at the Flux Motion and the Atlas was on the horizon (which was intriguing) but then I came across your content and went full DIY e-mountainboard with some considerable (and much appreciated) help from the community (mostly you and Apex). Like you, I worry a little for Exway that the price point is just too high, especially given a lot of the peripherals (fenders and bash guards) would need to be purchased separately. It also looks as though the Atlas moves away from being too proprietary (I'm looking at you 12 elliptical hole wheel pulley!) which can only be good thing as I think most people want options when it comes to wheels in particular (and especially when shipping to Europe for Exway accessories is so costly - not Exway's fault I appreciate - and can take a while).

The 4240 motors have a lower calorific value, allowing them to withstand 30% more maximum power than the 4230’s. They will be able to function under high load for extended periods of time. "

I guess the 4wd version only has 3000W because its limited by the battery. It’s a good thing that they seem to be honest here. It shows that the probably stated there actual power not just some stupid inflated number that the battery can’t even support like evolve. The 4wd version could be somewhat okay but for that price you can DIY a better board.
@LeeWright3 жыл бұрын
If it is a 12S34P 30Q pack it can produce 4000W, I think its more to conserve battery life
@blise518B3 жыл бұрын
@@LeeWright 4000W is is only possible for a very short time with a completely full battery. At 20A the voltage very quickly saggs to around 3,6V -3,4V and then the absolute maximum power is something like 3200W-3500W for a 12s4p 30q 3000W can be reached even if the battery is getting somewhat low so it’s a Great choice to set the maximum power 3000W so the board always behaves the same way regardless of the charge. Of course it’s also good for the lifetime to not push the battery all the way but if they want to keep the stats real 4000W would be a bit of a lie.

My Flex has 4230/160kv motors so those are most likely the same. These motors are going to be plenty for most people on street wheels; I'm 6'3, 250 and I can punch it up to 25mph and I can maintain 15-20 up pretty substantial hills and they only get slightly warm. I'm not sure how these motors will do with AT wheels, that will probably depend on how you decide to gear them.
@akirasposion3 жыл бұрын
Really good job designing the board. For the price of the 4 wheel drive, they should include everything on the video but the Shred lights.That would justify that price a little bit more. I was waiting for this board,but at that price range, I rather get a Lacroix or downgrade and get the wowgo AT2. I like being able to switch the battery, I was expecting them to use 21700 instead of the 18650.I am personally more interested in Belt drive or Gear drive. Direct drive hmmm. Not a good sale for me and hub is limited too much. If they were to adjust the pricing I would consider it but I feel that they are Bitting more than they can chew. I would get the street all wheel drive and get the wheels, pulleys and belts from somebody else for that price. I am very disappointed on the pricing especially in the middle of a pandemic where jobs are scarce and there isn't much money to go around. I wish them best of luck and hopefully they can make it out of this pandemic. @ Lee Wright. Thank you for your honest opinion

What you say @21 minutes about limiting power in 4WD seems inline with other things Hobbywing does. For example, lots of boards have MPH/KPH limits what change with wheel size, when you would expect the top speed to go up. They also limit amps on a software level in other scenarios from what I understand. They’ve never been about getting the max out of hardware (motors and batteries). They seem to prioritize range and smoothness. None the less, pretty cool board and great job on the video.

Even though I already bought my Eovan carbon pro, still looking out for this board. mainly looking at the battery pack and what manufacturer cells they used. I don't like wireless on/off, it means your board is wasting power when not used. if you don't ride for a month, your battery is lost a lot so you need to consider fully charging again before any ride. had that with the Inboard M1 which was a crappy board anyway. I don't mind it as a power off feature since the board could be mucky after a ride. If your battery pack gets that hot, better jump off before it ignites (being li-ion)

@@LeeWright I got the M1 for free so couldn't complain. but 30Q isn't really enough for these motors. you need 5P at least otherwise rides are too slow or expect a low range. As I can see you don’t own an exway. You can turn off the standby mode in the exway app. Standby mode will automatically disable when the battery percentage is low. The max. standby time on exway boards is 7days. Also, the standby mode doesn’t take that much of power. Cheers
@langcheng54433 жыл бұрын
Cells are likely Sony VTC6, like on the Flex, which would make sense from a buying power perspective and the math checks out for the watt hours. Meaning the pack is capable up to 60 A and around 3000W peak. Hobbywing is generally significantly underpowered compared to even some budget VESCs, so to squeeze out all the performance of the battery, Exway has to resort to slapping on 2 drivetrains. We're talking about 15-24 A per side on most Chinese street boards utilizing the ESC, likely that Exway's inhouse ESC can do 40 A total at 12s to sustain 2000W, then slap on another to reduce average load
@LeeWright3 жыл бұрын
I have no experience on the hobby wing but it does really feel like this board would be more suited to 4wd. I appreciate your insight dude
@Antonio-lf9ob3 жыл бұрын
The atlas is using 30Q cells due to delays in the supply chain. Exway’s hobbywing esc are not generic hobbywing escs. As some knows, exway is owned by hobbywing and therefore they only gets the newest and best esc made by hobbywing. Take the swappable drivetrain for example. Cheers
@langcheng54433 жыл бұрын
@@Antonio-lf9ob I have a lot of criticisms of my own about the board which I hope the less technically experienced customers would understand. There's a lot to talk about, but imma just summarize power. Hardware being custom or the "newest and best" does not automatically mean it's up for the job. Exway already advertises that the 2wd underutilizes the battery, meaning the motors are power limited and the esc is hardware/software limited. If Exway needs 2 ESCs to utilize the entire 60A battery, that already says a lot about a single ESC's continuous discharge. A single 100-160A dual channel VESC can already handle the entire battery and then some at a good price too ($180-$230). Then it gets more complicated with how expensive the board is compared to premium esk8 While these ESCs aren't esk8 applicable, Hobbywing already has high current speed controllers at the same 12s voltage for RC boats. They can do up to 100A+ on just one channel. Plus they have business contracts in more specialized fields. So they do have the resources to make VESC power esk8 ESCs, but I guess it's either challenging or decided against it for business reasons.

DKP trucks rule when it comes to low speed carving. Used at high speed, then you better strap yourself in! I guess tightening can help stability, just like you can adjust surfskate/Dinghy trucks for high speeds. Either way, you have to ask yourself; if you're screwing things down to the point of deformity, perhaps you're on the wrong setup. A DD-DKP-4WD sounds like it could be sketchy but hats off to you if you've pulled it off! Also, disappointing Exway didn't send you Atlas. I find it odd not even the likes of Dkwan have reviewed it yet. Consumers won't invest, especially at these high prices until a consensus of opinion has been established. Anyways thanks for sharing.
