They say the eyes are the window to ones soul. I don't know if people truly have a soul, but I'm convinced that looking into the eyes of a total stranger for one minute, makes you feel closer and more intimate to that person. Probably something psychological. I'm also pretty sure people participating had a lot of things to think about. I think it's a great experiment!

Once experiencing this, try to listen to heart beats of s.o you would agree to have this experience with !! it is very very powerful too and you can learn from this experience that everybody's got a heart and is human (which we sometimes forget as we may feel reluctancy to some people or acting with them as if they were an object), then learn to forgive them mistakes, misbehaviors they may have. You learn that vulnerability is universal.

An experiment is something you use to answer a question, right? What were you trying to find out by having people stare at eachother?

Humans have the ability to connect with each other only by looking in the eyes. We are about to lose this ability. And the experiment tries to figure out, if it's still here.

ok something im missing why would someone cry from eye contact? like i cant understand this AT ALL

E-motions are so powerful that you may experience crying or laughing out or just quietness.. When sharing eye-contact with s.o it may sometimes remind you people you have met or experiences you have had, blissful, stressful, incomfortable events which may lead you to intense sensation and feelings.. I had the experience of s.o who couldn't stand the expeirence as she couldn't stop laughing...

@@liliansydney2011 ive done this also as an exercise on a course for public speaking and I had the same response, it felt so awkward and uncomfortable for me that my initial reaction was to laugh, I believe as a protection mechanism to avoid feeling awkward/vunerable. after while it became much less and there was far deeper feelings of connection

Maybe it reminds them, that they missed something in there busy life... We are taught to not show emotions. Maybe they were feeling lonely and by looking into someones eyes they felt this loneliness ? Maybe they did'nt had a girlfriend/boyfriend in a long time ? Also it could remind you how emotional crippled you are....
