Thank you sooo much for using subtitles for your tutorials!! This helps me so much as I am profoundly deaf and it's hard for me to follow many videos on polymer clay making instructions when they don't have subtitles. I've subscribed to you now! I love your friendly manner of talking and the way you explain things to make it sound so easy! :-) :-)

Hi Patricia montiel rodriguez, patience is good and so is a light touch. You could always pop your piece into the freezer for a bit before putting in the pin. That would help you from squashing your piece in the process.

Hi misspink03me, I have done a few videos already on the tools and materials I like to use and I plan to do many more. So make sure to subscribe to my channel so you don't miss out. I do like the idea of making a 'starter kit' of basic stuff needed to begin with, so thanks for the suggestion!

Hi I'd Rather Be Eating, great question! Yeah you would need to cut it sort so it wouldn't stick through the donut hole. You might be better off using a screw-in eye instead though. Tim Holtz makes some tiny ones or you can try Googling them for other sources to find them.

Hi Rodellene Lagsit Yes you can put your headpins in first before baking. I see you are from the Philippines... I hope that you and your family are OK. I know that your country has gone through a terrible tragedy and my hearts go out to everyone effected by the terrible storm.

Hi amy chevalier, yup, Lisa's Poly Bonder would work great for already baked polymer pieces. It doesn't have to be baked to work. It's just capable of being baked if you need to use it that way. Thanks for commenting!

Hi AlaskaOwlCity, Is there any reason why you don't want the pin to turn? Is the loop too hard to make when you're turning it? Because you can just place your finger underneath the pin with one hand and use the other hand to turn the loop. That should keep the eyepin from turning on you.
@PolymerClayTutor11 жыл бұрын
Hi dawn eliza desierto, One thing that you can do that will help you avoid squishing your charm while inserting the eye pin, is to put your charm in the freezer for awhile first. This will firm it up and keep you from squishing it too badly. Hope that helps!

Hi Helen Chen, usually when I make flat charms I don't use a headpin. I drill a hole near the top and use a jump ring instead. As long as your piece is baked properly and is nice and strong, this is a very secure way to attach findings to flat charms. (Or if you want you can use screw in eyes with a drop of glue added, they are secure as well.)
@lesliemonahan208010 жыл бұрын
I already do but thank you
@mickeyjoc346110 жыл бұрын
what kind of glue do you use ? Thanks
@PolymerClayTutor10 жыл бұрын
Mickey JO c You can use E6000, Krazy Glue, Weldbond or a bake able polymer clay glue like Sculpey Bake and Bond. ANy of those will work for keeping the screw from untwisting.

Great tip! I have such trouble getting my eye-pins to stay it! Have spent countless dollars on all sort of industrial strength glue/bake 'n' bonds etc etc but nothing would work. Started doing the 90 degree bend in my eye-pin but was still wriggling it's way out because there's still a gap in the clay from pushing it down, never thought to twist it!! Thank you, I will be trying this for sure!

I do something almost the same. I have found your method can make the softer clay bulge, so I cut in to the clay with an exact-o knife. Coat the bent eye pin in bake bond and then I insert it in to the slit. Then I close and gently press the slit shut. Finally I dip a brush in turpentine to remove any sigh of the slit on the top.I have been doing it this way for years and have never had an eye pin slip.

Hi Ssubiru Bernal, the reason you are getting rust on your eye pins is because they are low quality and are made of steel without a good coating on it. You would be better off using copper or brass wire instead and making your own eye pins. Hope that helps!

Thank you for the useful tutorial! I'm new to polymer clay and have just subscribed to your awesome channel. I'm wondering, how do you insert the pins into the finished unbaked piece without squashing it somewhat? I will absolutely try this - exactly what I searched for and it makes a lot of sense. Might even try the "all the way through" one also . Question please I am just starting with all of this Polymer Clay stuff and found a sale on Sculpy III today and picked up a bunch. Then I started seeing many people say it was junk and broke, cracked all the time after cooking. Wondering what your experience is with this product - I did watched your vid on cooking much longer, but not sure if the stuff I bought should be returned. Thanks, John

Hi Cindy, there are some cases where you have to use an eye pin. The technique you demonstrated may work on a thicker item but on a thinner/flat item where I have to use and eye pin I will bend the eye pin in a zig-zag pattern and then put it in and it doesn't come out. Hope this helps, take care, Dee
