I was born in Chicago, 1963. In 1970, I began spending EVERY summer in Buffalo ny with my Grandparents and Uncles. In the summer of 1977, my summer vacation was extended due to my Parents divorce. My 1st Winter in buffalo and it would be the historical blizzard of '77' . The music at the time was funk & soul, and of course Rick James put us back on the map, but not for our notorious snow falls. Hits like 'flash light', 'Bootzilla' & 'Mary jane' dominated WBLK and the music charts. A twist of fate & reversal of fortune caused me to spend the summer of 1978 in Chicago, but in 1980, I resumed summer visits to Buffalo. Once 18 I left Chicago and moved to Buffalo and became a permanent Resident of NYS and the city of Buffalo. I registered to vote here, as well as selective services. I went to college here, married and became a Father, and now Grandfather of 7, ALL Buffalo born and raised. I'm somewhat conflicted as to whether I grew up in Chicago or if I grew up in Buffalo... I think I did both, but I came of age here in Buffalo. Buffalo had been my playground at a very happy, yet crucial time of my youth & development. Whenever I feel nostalgic, I need only ride around this city and reflect on the times spent in every corner and pocket of this city of my youth. Buffalo is not perfect, but neither am I, yet we're perfect for each other. I own property and a family plot here in Buffalo, so it's safe to say I have lived here, and will die here, here in my beloved city of Buffalo - ALL THINGS BUFFALO

@@LvxBillz Word. I guess it's cuz we look up to yall so when yall reject us and say we the Midwest or we country we feel like it's a dis. When we go to the south they say we sound like we from NY. They say our swagger is NY. Upstate looks like the south and the Midwest in some regards but the people cluster closer to NYC in terms of mentality and swagger while still havin our own brand of NY persona. We have our own accents but they're very different from the South and the Midwest. Again I'd say closer to NYC. Either way I love the City and especially Uptown and Queens.

Lived in Upstate NY my whole life 34 years, Syracuse. We Def got more job opportunities then Buff City n Roochester. But with that said it's alot alike. Every part Town known for its certain demographics but it's also alot of everything mixed at same time. Alot of people from NYC relocate in Syracuae but whenever I tell someone I'm from NY they automatically assume NY City. Always saying Na Upstate NY. Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse, Auburn, & Utica all are hour r 2 from eachother, Binghamtons south and they Def consider themselves more NYC than Syracuae cuz they the halfway point from Cuse to NYC. Other than NYC dudes coming to Upstate most of people from Cuse consider us Upstaters not NY Citiers tho I can see how he says Syracuse thinks they're NYrs cuz so many NYC people come up here. We also don't have the super high murder rate but we got hoods just like Buffalo were alot of the violent crimes and drug n murders happen alot. Lot of gang shit but alot of it is younger kids shooting eachother over dumb shit. Alot of robberies, thefts, drugs like spice and pcp or fake Molly like bathsalts n ice. The heroin is hug here. It's all fentynal nowadays. Overdoses left n right. Walking round west side needles n shit everywhere. Crack, yayo, stabbing, shooting n drive by alot. Crazy shit. I think most hoods like this but most shootings are gang or drug related. Door dash delivery guy got shot up out front my window last Aug. Mistaken identity n almost died but somehow survived 11 shots at a four way stop sign and of course nobody was ever caught. It's almost a nightly occurrence but shit only makes the news if someone dies most the time. We might not be as dangerous as Buff n Roch but got the same problems, some areas look the same but it's not no racial shit I mean I'm sure there are but it's nothing like this dude sayin Buff City is like. Not big music scene for artist that much or least none to much worth listing. In most my dudes eyes Griselda is our Upstate group. Different city but not really. Look n feel the same. Either way I'm still supposed how many hood dudes don't know Griselda sometimes. I be getting embarrassed to many mother fuckets rocking NBA n fuckin Migos or Gucci. It's sad. N they bump to much NYC shit like Bobby Scmurda or Bitch9. Everyone loves Dipset n the Lox. Jay, Nas, DMX, Pop Smoke but most the real ones locked up r dead n younger cats like mumble rap so it's frustrating but I try to tell people bout GxFR anytime I can. Been rocking w em for years n glad people finally waking the fuck up. Used to call radio station like play Benny or Conway n they'd be like who smh. Bills being good last few years woke alot of punks up but unfortunately w all the NYC like Brooklyn n Queens cats coming here still ain't blowing up like they should unless u know n listen to real rap n not this radio garbage for little kids n females. Just sayin that drake n lil tjay rappin w cadence or signing sh1t to a rnb or rap beat fcking kills me for real💯
