The Eye or Brummel splice on single braid rope is one of the most useful skills you can add to your rigging tool kit. When you know the length rope and both end of the rope are free it is simple and easy to do.
See the following demonstration for when both end are free.
• Eye Splice in Single B...
When one end is fixed, you are splicing a really long length of rope or if you are simply working off a spool of rope you need to modify your approach to create the eye splice.
The Brummel or Eye splice with one end fixed can be as simple as the version where the ends are not fixed if you follow the three easy steps in this video demonstration.
Step 1, measure out your eye size and create two wholes in the rope.
Step 2, create two loops in the eyes created in step 1.
Step 3, pull the first loop through the second before burying the tail.
This version of the eye splice allows you to have eyes at both ends of any length of rope fastening one end to a fixed point as needed.
If you need to get the gear to help you complete this splice follow the links below to purchase the tools used in this video demonstration.

Thanks for stopping by, if you take a look in the description if have included some product links. It really helps our our channel if you get the gear to do this through these links. If you are on a budget you can make you own D-Splicer by putting a U-Bend in a thin length of wire (about 1/3 the width of a standard coat hanger does the trick). These will brake over time as the bend can give way under pressure. The D-splices in the product links have the ends strengthened so the last a lot longer. The one in the link comes with 4 spare, be sure to check the width of the D-Splicer you buy the come in varying width to make different rope sizes. Detail of the rope they are matched to will be in the product details. Good Luck !!!

Why do we tapper is it just for show?
@BottomUPBoats
@BottomUPBoats 2 жыл бұрын
Not just for show, the man reason for tapering is to prevent big step down from the double width of rope to the single. Not that it would happen very often but the bump could get stuck or caught up going through a pulley or eye. The taper gradually changes the width with can help avoid this.

Your forgetting to take the twist out before you tuck the tail
@BottomUPBoats
@BottomUPBoats 2 жыл бұрын
The initial twist is removed when you pull the second loop through on itself which has it ready for the tail getting tucked in.
