Sad that there was a stigma associated with charity back then and being a "taker". Many of these men served in the Wars and never recovered. Thanks for sharing this video

Recycling - The Salvation Army started that kind of work in the 1890s, way ahead of its time.

I will say this, starting in the 1980's mid career and a family man I worked in Local Authority housing until retirement. In the cases I came across, hundreds I suppose in my career, seeing individuals and families with severe problems as a last resort, when the do gooders and expensive Social Services had failed the Sally Army in many cases stepped in and put people back on track. No religious conversions, no questions asked, just humanity. I'm not religious, not political, just an ordinary bloke with a hint of humanity. Please think before you make adverse comments people.

Will have to give this one a whirl... ...which I did, and well worth watching. Very sobering view of what life was like for many in Britain while I was still in my pram...
