Blows my mind how many people are saying they're useless. I have an allay for nearly every job in my greenhouse. One to collect saplings, logs, leaves like from the nether trees for the composter, honeycomb, etc. I don't have to stop every so often to collect things because they do it. Chopping bamboo and sugarcane gets messy but I just chop once and move on. Need to gather several shulkers of sand? A couple allays clean up the trail of sand left in my wake. Long line of beehives - just run through with shears and move on. Super reliable for collecting sniffer flowers. Set up a note block in a swamp that's stocked with frogs and they can collect slime that frogs leave behind. Why craft a thousand hoppers or set up a mine cart system when I could just have an adorable little creature doing it all instead.

If you have an allay linked to a noteblock that is constantly triggering (with some automated system) does the allay stay near the noteblock if you leave, or does it still try to follow you? I want to set up allays to collect things, but i want them to be able to fly free (because its cute!) And not trap them. But if they leave the setups and follow me that wont work too well

@kojoe27 yeah! They will always choose a note block over you, so they will stay close to it. Just make a calibrated sculk sensor so it picks up on entities a lot more efficiently, dig 3 down, place it next to note block, put some sort of mob head on the note block (I like shulker heads because the sound cracks me up or frogs because it's a nice sound), put a bucket of water on top of the sensor so you don't have to hear it go off all the time, then hide that stuff under dirt or whatever. Doesn't have to be super fancy. In my orchard I just put a few hoppers around it so they toss saplings and stuff in it.

A perfect explanation on how to effectively use allays. I also have three worlds with them feeding a hopper with sniffer plants. They're also great for retrieving items that fall into deep pits that aren't easy to retrieve (as long as you have another instance of the item that fell). I also use them to indicate where sculk sensors are in the Deep Dartk when I don't have any night vision potions with me. They'll light them up without triggering the shriekers.

A big tip for travelling with allays is making them hold a lead, and then lead them. If the lead breaks, they will rush to you giving the broken off lead for you to lead them once more.

In my opinion one of the best ways to use them is during raids to pick up the emrealds and totems easily without having a bunch of crossbows in your inventory, especially if you put a wall around the village

The moment I saw an allay for the first time, I immediately fell in love with them! They are so cute! When I have to go the Nether, I always tie my Allay to my Horse's fence and put their items in a box so they aren't wandering and they won't follow me into the Nether.

​@@Sniipez- Actually, no. I always name my Allays. I will name them after the item their holding. I always play with commands. I use commands though only as a tool rather than a cheat. I use commands for only a few things when in survival. kill entities, give myself one extra row of hearts, seed, locate biome and structures, use a counter to help if I need to know if how many enemies I'm dealing with, or how many villagers and iron golems are within a village, summon mobs for a quick advancement such the "Kill A Ghast In The Overworld" or summon rare mobs so I can breed them or have them in zoos (Blue Axolotls, Brown Pandas, Pink Sheep, Skeleton/Zombie Horses). But, for the purposes of the conversation I can teleport only the allays who are carrying items I need help grabbing to me.

Tho I play on PS5 and I cant do commands I just play normally without any advantages. A few days ago I finally managed to breed the blue Axelotl!!! Ive spent more than 24 hours (on separate days) getting tropical fish and breeding them. I also got a Brown panda by breeding and the very next day I found a wild one in the jungle! Anyway thanks for the reply, I will give them nametags like all my other animals. 😆

I've been messaged by friends when they find random allays thousands of blocks away and I know it was one of mine based on the item they were holding 😁

Great video - allays are definitely one of the more underutilized mobs in the game, and should be explored more by players! One super useful function: they can be used as non-stackable filters in multi-item/category sorting systems (for stackables), which in some cases can more than triple the original sorting speed!

I found it is better to use a hopper clock for the catching system, as the note block wont play constantly, but the allays still stay near the system.

I have a idea to grind blaze rods what you can do is kill blaze from a distance with a bow or crossbow and give your allay a blaze rod like this you don't have to actually go in the fortress and you will get blaze rods too

Okay so say you have a certain type of tipped arrow you dont want to run out of and make some more or whatever. If uou give the allay one to hold will he go and grab your missed shots?? Since the player can retrieve his missed shots by walking over the arrow and piicks them back up, will the allay?

I think you got Autocorrected...Allays are so CUTE! I love them! Though I guess I actually love any Mob that, when in Creative, I'll defend any of them and their homes from anything! That means I'll Repair the Iron Golems, Heal Zombie Villagers, Save Allays from Outposts, Never Look Right at an Enderman, Talk to Villagers, Move into villages to help protect it from Raiders, I also use Command Blocks to arrest the Pillagers and Vindicators rather than kill them, Trade with Wandering Traders, Summon and Breed Blue Axolotls, I'll Guard the Ancient Cities, Tame Wolves, and Never Harm the tiny Slimes and Magma Cubes. I have uncovered and restored Abandoned Villages, Old Mineshafts, Trail Ruins, and I'm now working on repairing A Monument, A Forest Temple, and the Ancient City! After that I will bring back a Fortress that was lost in the Nether!

They just go and find items for you, ie when you dig up a bunch if dirt they'll go and pick it up and bring it to you. The duplicating in the title refers to how you can duplicate them (the allay form of breeding) Hope this helps a bit :)

I don't know if you're using chunkbase on mobile/tablet or desktop, but I noticed the desktop site changed over recently, though I can't say I know what specifically changed it. Maybe clear your cookies and reload your browser? I haven't seen it on mobile, so it might just be a desktop thing. Hope that helps! It's definitely made searching for structures WAY easier!

They do not despawn. However, if they don't have an item to hold, they will wander off. You can attach a lead to them if you don't have an item for them to hold.

I playon peac3ful mode and you dont get allays as the pillager outpost and woodland mansion have no mobs.
