Heel mooie beelden! Ik bestudeer al jaren WO1, mijn overgrootvader heeft daar, als Duitse soldaat gevochten, en het gelukkig overleeft. Ook ben ik meerdere keren in Huis Doorn geweest, om te kijken hoe Wilhelm daar leefde, deze beelden geven daar een zeer goed beeld bij. Dank ervoor!

Funny fact: Wilhelm II was totally hooked on chopping tree's. So at a certain moment, the Dutch local government, had him put under restrictions, regarding tree chopping...

There are lip readers who can tell us. They made a whole documentary where they did this with WWI British soldiers speaking on silent films taken during the war.

It turned out, Wilhelm II was a stabilizing factor that Germany sorely needed, especially after the defeat in 1918. What a waste to have him be stuck in some castle outside of Germany instead of leading his people.

Maybe the monarchy was, but the person of Wilhelm himself was definitely not a stabilizing factor as his behaviour was way too unpredictable. And he wasn't that popular, unlike the "old" Kaiser Wilhelm I had been.

@@ansibarius4633 True, perhaps his powers should have been reduced a bit and the parliament strengthened. But losing their beloved Kaiser and their colonies too was way too harsh still in my opinion. Prestige and pride was very important in those days.

@@ansibarius4633You are right.....Wilhelm II had never understand, never really understand what it means to be Kaiser. But the one main tragedy of german history was the death of his father, Friedrich III after a short regency of 99 days....that's the real tragedy , because the follower was this stupid Wilhelm II
