Hey guys! I hope you enjoy learning a bit more about eyelash extensions. As mentioned in the video, I'm sharing what I've learnt in the past two and a half years of being a qualified lash technician. I still have a lot to learn, and currently I only specialise in Classic Lash Extensions. I know it's a long video, but if you couldn't tell, it's something I'm pretty passionate about, so I wanted to educate as many people as possible. I want to get rid of the negative stigma surrounding the lash industry, and hopefully I've changed at least one persons opinion about them. Today, there are a lot more possibilities with extensions but smth didn't change, we still need to strengthen our own lashes before and after! :) Simple and affordable remedies like Cherish Lash are of great help for that.

Totally worth the 30 mins to learn everything there is! very helpful, i have been getting extensions for a few months and while i feel my tech is doing a good job, they fall out a lot sooner than i thought they would last (without the natural lash) and i have an oily complexion. wonder if that is why! also i tend to lose the left before the right side...

Lianna N Do you sleep on your left side of your face more than your right? The friction from your pillow case can change the longevity of your lashes as well. Most lash techs recommend silk pillows (Plus its good for your hair too!)

Micelar water or anything that contains glycerol(as it works as an oil substitute) is actually not recommended to remove make up around eyelash extensions. And you should never ever wipe off the excess glue from your lash onto the gel patch due to the fumes near your clients eyes that can cause chemical burns if the clients eyes are slightly open..and there’s waaay too much glue on the gel patch in this video. Plus,most eyeliners are oil based too and should bot be used when you have eyelash extensions,you can buy soecial water based eyeliners for eyelash extensions. Just few little corrections/tips without judging as we all continuously learn😊

All states in the United States require a stylist to have cosmetology license and esthetician for waxing/facials. Nail tech licensing for nail salon work. However to apply lashes I’m not sure states regulate these salons individually. There are lash training certifications but as far as requiring these lash “techs” to be a licensed esthetician or cosmetologist is undefined.

I've had eyelash extensions for over a year now. Sounds really overwhelming with all the after care but after a month or two of having them it becomes second nature. My lashes last 3-4 weeks, I am extremely careful. Very informative video 👌🏼

This is such a great video! I really love how you truly went into every little detail as possible. I'm trying to do as much research as possible because I plan on getting lash extensions next weekend! I have a couple more questions: Can you wear liquid eyeliner with lashes? Is there a brand you recommend that will have the least effect on the lashes? Also, I clean and remove my makeup with coconut oil. Do you think I could continue doing this if I do not apply it around my eye area, and if I'm careful about getting it into my eyes, and then just use the makeup remover you suggested to take off eye makeup? I've definitely done the oven thing... I singed them, and they were crunchy and nappy and shooting around everywhere. Open the oven while standing back and let the heat blast out FIRST, and then proceed after a few seconds to take out or put in your food. Otherwise I keep them clean, and use oil free makeup remover and baby shampoo and they do great. That was an interesting point about medications... Good and through video girl! I enjoyed this 👏🏾👏🏾❤.

I've just had my first training session lashing and have a question. The tutor told us to avoid using tape at all costs due to potential damage to the under eye skin. However I had a massive issue making the eye pads comfortable for the client while making sure all the smaller lashes were covered. How do you cover the lower lashes? I've been watching a few videos where the tech puts the eye pad down and tapes over top so the skin is protected. What do you think of this method? Thanks!

The extensions should be applied on unpermed lashed. If the extensions are applied correctly it should lift your own lash with it and you should not be able to tell between your natural lashes and the extensions. So there is no need for a lift. Plus lashes adhere better to uncurled lashes. So the perm can actually inhibit retention of the lash

Its not possibly to apply them to yourself. Because your eyes would be open, the fumes will make your eyes water, which will prevent the glue from adhering, so its just not an option.

How would I be able to figure out if a eyelash extension tech is properly trained? I have never had this done before and I wouldn't know what things to ask or look for. Also, I exercise a lot and sweat even more and wondered what I could do to help the longevity of the lashes as a runner. Your video was very helpful! Irene ask for a certificate of training from the tech preforming the service. Also if you go on the lash brand website such as. (Eg. xtremelash.com ) they have a database of lash technicians to search through to find one closest to you!

Also sweat shouldn’t speed up shedding of lashes whatsoever just don’t rub sweat from eyes. Rather “dab” sweat away from beneath lashes if sweats dripping

Hey Erin! So im a beginner and i usually work with synthetic lashes, but i absolutely agree with you that silk lashes are much better than synthetic, but it is sooo hard to find real silk lashes!!! I've found that its easy to label a product as "silk mink" or "synthetic mik" lashes that make no sense so its hard to trust what meterial the product REALLY is. Party lashes are clusters of lashes that are applied after the full set, they only last about 3-5 days. They're just mainly to add a bit extra drama.

I just watched a video where the tech said she always wears a mascara ONLY UNDER the top lashes and it is a WATER based mascara for extentions. I don't believe I caught the brand but just research water based mascara for extentions and be sure to only use under the top lashes

I had a laceration in one of my eyelids that unfortunately made loose a lot of my eyelashes (I have a gap in the middle) on that eye. Although I still have lashes in that eye it is quite different from the other eye that has a fair amount of healthy lashes. Am I still able to get lash extensions that will look uniform on both eyes?

The best way to learn something is to just dive in and try it, that's how i started doing nails, makeup etc when i was learning to do lash extensions in school they only showed us how it was done once and immediately we started working on classmates and clients and we all did just fine, as long as your informed about what you're doing I don't see a problem with just getting started working on other people.

The length will be a full number (12mm-15mm, 9mm). The thickness will typically be a decimal (0.05, .06 ) easy way to differentiate!!

I agree! I've tried a gazillion different technicians before i found my go to lady now and you can see the difference between a bad vs good technician. With my lady now, who ive been going to for years is amazing. I do not even feel the lashes on me and they last for ages! For me, having eyelash extensions are actually better for my eyelashes, because when i dont wear extensions i wear a tonne of mascara and i lose so many lashes when i take my mascara off each night. i love them and hooked on them!

A party lash years ago used to be a name for extra volume lashes put on at the end of the full set that will not necessarily stay on very long and may be chosen for that night. Also the fashion color (bright pink and blue) used to be called party lashes as well

About the "party lashes", from my experience looking around at different techs, party lashes are temporary (one day) cluster lashes like what you would get with a makeup application. hope that helps :)
