For an even neater appearance (and better function) on eyelet and buttonholes made with home sewing machines....I will typically place a small piece of iron-on INTERFACING under the fabric where I am sewing the buttonhole (or eyelet).... run the sewing TWICE (on the same setting) before removing the fabric. This results in a neater appearing eyelet or button hole...and it's much, much sturdier, too. Also...I don't use the automatic cutter......I remove the fabric from the machine with longer threads attached which I clip myself, leaving 6-8 inches of thread remaining. Then take a hand needle and use those threads to tie off the stitching on the underside and reinforce the ends of the buttonhole. Your machine can provide the basis of what you wish to do with your sewing: but you have to provide the skill and the know-how to bring the best results to your work. (BTW: I have owned this machine for two years. Fifty years of sewing experience and skills)
