About Nicole's acting, I would point out that (whether or not it is intentional, I don't know) she is almost always portrayed in a state of altered consciousness. Either drunk at the party or high during the confession o feverish after her dream or disturbed after his confession. It's actually in few moments that she is 100 % herself, and it tends to be for short spans of time. It seems to be at the end that she overcomes that detached state, when he has as well overcome his semi lisergic experiences. Don't know what to make of it, but it seems noteworthy.

Haha, seriously. I love the movie first and foremost and never even thought about whether this was the final cut or not. So many layers and details to unpack... all the lore just makes it that much more enigmatic. -Jacob

It's a movie that gets increasingly better with every viewing. I don't know of an instance where someone watched it a second time and was like. I still don't like it or it's still only ok. When I saw it in the theater I thought it was ok, but I was dissapointed. The sudden ending bugged me and caused me to knock it down another level than how I genuinely felt about it. When I watched it again I liked it and everytime thereafter it's gotten better to the point to where it's one of my favorite movies of all time and easily my favorite Kubrick film... it's not even close.It's by far his most in depth film. I've watched and researched nearly every analysis and theory break down on it and I still find new stuff every viewing.

Great discussion. There's a theory I read that talks about how the party/orgy at the mansion is a "dream" that Bill has (real or fake, doesn't matter) which is a deconstruction of the party Bill and his wife attends at the beginning of the film. The models that hit on him are like the naked women that are on display at the mansion, the redhead he helps at his friend's bathroom represents the woman who saves him at the mansion, etc. and this is the way Bill's brain is trying to interpret the 1st party...I guess what I'm saying is there's so much more to unpack in this film, y'all should do a part 2!

Nicole Kidman' s character was involved in the cult from the beginning. The first scene in the movie is an indication of that. The way she steps out of her dress is the same way that the woman at the party took their robes off.

Everyone saying the movie is like a dream is full of hot air. Most of the scenes are quite real life - except for the lights everywhere. But dreams don't have colored lights everywhere, either. Neither do they have slow fade in and out transitions.

There really isn't a longer cut. The only differences between cuts is the CGI figures in US release. Yes this is the official story, but its also the only confirmed fact a well as the idea of what was cut doesnt match the film's style whatsoever
