How do you want to check the 500? Do you want to go around and ask people: "Have you seen the risen Christ?" "No". After him to the next person: "And do you have seen him?"

That's a great question! The key to understanding the significance of the 500 witnesses mentioned in 1 Corinthians 15 is to consider the context of the time. In a city of that size, and even in larger towns, it's likely that everyone knew someone who had heard about or witnessed such an extraordinary event. Jerusalem, at that time, had an estimated population of about 80,000 people, and Jesus was a topic of conversation that shook the entire city. The resurrection of Jesus was a major event, and in a relatively small community, news like this would spread quickly. And it is also powerful evidence of Jesus' resurrection that people spoke about it, even though talking about it at that time was dangerous and could cost them their lives. This widespread knowledge and the fact that so many people were able to testify to the same event is one of the reasons the message of Christianity spread so rapidly. It wasn’t just a small group of people claiming a miraculous event; it was something that, in the cultural and social context of the time, was talked about by many individuals in different communities. This shared testimony is one of the factors that helped Christianity gain traction and grow quickly in the early years.

@@2Serve4 Name ONE of the "500 people". Provide ONE eye witness account, please.

@@cygnusustus Thank you for your question. The account of the 500 witnesses comes from Paul’s letter in 1 Corinthians 15:6, where he explicitly mentions that Jesus appeared to over 500 people at one time, most of whom were still alive when he wrote the letter. While the names of these individuals aren’t listed in the text, the point of Paul’s statement is to emphasize that these witnesses were available for questioning at the time, making it a bold claim if it weren’t true. It’s also worth noting that Paul himself was a highly educated and skeptical individual before his encounter with the risen Christ, and his transformation and writings carry significant weight. If you’d like, I’d be happy to discuss this further!

@@2Serve4 I know where the accounts comes from. In fact, that is the only account of the event. There are no testimonies from any of those supposed witnesses. Paul mentions neither any names, nor the location of this event, so there was in fact no way to corroborate it. So....still not a single eye witness account of the greatest event in human history supposedly orchestrated by an omniscient and omnipotent God. Sounds suspect, to me, especially considering that we know for a fact the early Christians were fabricating stories about Jesus.

There’s no such place as Palestine

Thank you for your comment! I understand your point, and you're right that the term 'Palestine' as we know it today wasn't officially used during Jesus' time. However, the name has historical roots dating back to ancient times. For simplicity, many people use 'Palestine' to refer to the geographical area that included Judea, Galilee, and Samaria under Roman rule. It's more about conveying the region's location than its political designation at the time.

"Eye witness testimony is essential to the resurrection of Jesus." We have no eye witness testimony to the resurrection of Jesus, so your beliefs just fell face-first into the mud.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts! I appreciate your interest in the topic. In the video, I’ve addressed the evidence and reasoning regarding eyewitness testimony in detail, so I’d encourage you to take a closer look at those points. It would also be great to hear your counterarguments to the evidence I’ve presented, rather than simply stating that there are no eyewitnesses.

@@2Serve4 You provided no eye witness testimony in the video. Cite a single eye witness testimony to the resurrection, or even to Jesus, or concede that you are lying to defend your beliefs.

@@cygnusustus Thank you for your passionate interest in the topic. Paul consistently claimed to have encountered the risen Jesus, and he viewed this as a genuine appearance, not merely a vision. For example, in 1 Corinthians 9:1, Paul asks, 'Have I not seen Jesus our Lord?' He also places his experience alongside the appearances to the other apostles in 1 Corinthians 15:8, stating, 'Last of all, as to one untimely born, he appeared also to me.' I completely respect your right to your own interpretation and beliefs, but I must kindly point out that your claim is disconnected from what Paul himself actually wrote.

@@2Serve4 Please stop lying. Paul never once claimed to have encountered Jesus in the flesh. Had he actually seen a physical Jesus, this would have also been visible to his companions.

Paul never claimed to have encountered the risen Christ. He claimed to have had a vision of Jesus. Neither did Paul give a first-hand account of the resurrection. You are lying. If you have to lie to promote your beliefs, it is time to get new beliefs.

Thank you for continuing the conversation! I’d like to gently point out that Paul did indeed claim to have encountered the risen Christ. In 1 Corinthians 15:3-8, Paul not only provides a list of witnesses to the resurrection, but he also includes himself as someone who had seen the risen Jesus, describing it as an appearance. While his encounter occurred in a unique way (on the road to Damascus), Paul consistently treated it as a genuine experience of the resurrected Christ, not merely a vision. I’m happy to engage with thoughtful counterarguments, but I hope we can keep the discussion respectful and focused on the facts. Thank you!

@@2Serve4 'I’d like to gently point out that Paul did indeed claim to have encountered the risen Christ." Then you are lying. Paul did not claim to have encountered the risen Jesus in the flesh. He claimed only have had a vision of Jesus, which was not witnessed by any of the companions with him at the time. "Paul not only provides a list of witnesses to the resurrection" We have no testimony to the resurrection from any of those "witnesses".

@@cygnusustus I’d like to clarify a few points. Paul consistently claimed to have encountered the risen Jesus, and he viewed this as a genuine appearance, not merely a vision. For example, in 1 Corinthians 9:1, Paul asks, 'Have I not seen Jesus our Lord?' He places his experience alongside the appearances to the other apostles in 1 Corinthians 15:8, stating, 'Last of all, as to one untimely born, he appeared also to me.' While Paul's experience on the road to Damascus was indeed dramatic and unique (Acts 9:1-9), he never describes it as 'just a vision.' Instead, he treated it as a real encounter with the risen Christ, which transformed his life and mission. As for his companions, Acts 9 and Acts 22 mention that they heard the voice but did not fully understand what was happening, further indicating that something extraordinary took place. I encourage you to take a closer look at Paul’s writings and the context of these events.

@@2Serve4 "Paul consistently claimed to have encountered the risen Jesus" He did not. That is a lie. The risen Jesus was Jesus in the flesh, and Paul never claimed to have encountered Jesus in the flesh. None of his traveling companions witnessed the apparition. Please stop lying.
