I had a huge problem in my studio for several years. The DC7 solved it so to me the Cioks power supply is the only choice. Great, great power supplies!

After having built quite a lot of pedalboards - my first in 1974 - it may sound reasonable the I tested quite a few power supply solutions, running into each and every trouble one can imagine. For my latest board I took the DC7 and expanded that by a Cioks 8 Expander. No more trouble, board is dead quiet, all the pedals sound great, all the flexibility I need for this board. That‘s it. Period!
@TeleBlaster2 жыл бұрын
I have a DC7 and 8 expansion under my Pedaltrain Classic Jr. Fits inside the rails using 2 screws each drilled through the board. Rock solid, dead silent and powers 12 pedals with ease. Still have 3 outlets and a usb out unused..which is great for off board testing of new pedals or an off board looper. Best investment ever. My analogman chorus at 15v and Cali76 at 18v sound better than ever.

I started with the Cioks 4 because it can be used as a stand-alone psu. Recently ran out of room so I picked up the Cioks DC7. Absolutely love how high quality and low profile these units are. Hands down the best psu on the market!

lesser supplies are still fine for small boards. this one is more like 'the last you will possibly ever need'-level gear, which means the price is quite reasonable.

I have the DC-7 powering my vintage Boss pedals, most of which require 12vdc. Its absolutely glorious! Btw, cool cat. I have a similar looking one named Sweat Pea. When we got him he was a stray and had anger issues. But he allowed us to take him home and get him back to being (somewhat) normal. He still growls at strangers, but once he knows you he's good. He loves loud music, especially Iron Maiden.

Getting back into guitar and I have a personal small home studio. I'm about to get more into guitar pedals and will be using some in recordings. After mulling around a bunch with what power supply to get, I actually came to the conclusion to just get the best power supply I can since I need the least amount of noise possible. I could get a Voodoo or whatever for cheaper, but the Cioks DC7 seems like a purchase I can just do and then not have to worry again.

The fact that you can parallel or series the outputs makes it usable for just about everything. The fact that is uses standard phone jacks on the unit you can easily fab your own interfaces.

If you're watching this video, because you're interested in the getting the DC7, just buy it; yes, it's relatively expensive, but it's such a great product that I believe that it's worth every single penny!! I have it on my board, powering some expensive pedals, as well as cheap ones too, and the DC7 is so quiet and hum-free that I struggled to believe it! My Revival Drive sounds fantastic with the DC7, a major leap ahead of the isolated power supply I was using before. I have my HX Stomp connected to the DC7, that's reknowned for causing digital interference with other pedals/power supplies, but the circuit is now as quiet as the grave! I have have the HX on full volume, and the Revival Drive on full gain/blend, and the circuit noise is almost non-existent. I've used the DC7 on some pedals that I know to be noisy, as those pedals are a cheap design with poor filtering, and they not only sound much, much quieter, but the headroom is definitely better and they sound much clearer. Snake oil, perhaps, but I suspect the vastly improved filtering and the isolation from the DC7 has lead to a noticable and audible improvement. I'd rather sell all of my pedals, including my Analogman, before I sold this DC7; it's that good.

kingpossie - I’m glad it works for you. It wouldn’t work for me. The max combined draw for all 9v outs is 500mA. Two Strymon/Digital pedals (300mA draw each) and you’re already over that limit. I’ll take the Cioks for now. Eventide Powermax (Cioks made) is slightly less but, without the expansion option. EDIT - I’ve just seen the Iso Pro HB power supplies, I think I was looking at the standard models, not the Iso Pro. They are better specced than the standard one I referred to above. For me, I’m still gunning for the Cioks but that’s me and I’m happy for anyone who can get what they need for a lower price.
