I bought the ez rack last summer and it's amazing. I have a Vibe tandum kayak that is 13 feet long. This allows me to take it out by myself.

looks like a great idea minus the fact you still have to lift a 120lb kayak into the air onto the rack.. that maybe easy for some no way I could do that..

bad point is once you set it up your car, cannot open trunk unless you take it out all the racks

Try picking it up on one end to load it on a gravel boat ramp instead of grass

Nice. That’s how I lift my kayak onto my rollerloader (discontinued), but, and this is big…I don’t strap on until after the vessel is on the car. The margin for error there is huge (you could drop it in the Tesla parked next to you). I like that the vessel is secured before it goes up. Question: what did that Hobie weigh? Can these racks handle 100 lbs?

We recommend no more than 140 pounds, but keep in mind you need to be able to handle your part of the weight. Are you

From my experience, this was a massive waste of money. The last thing I wanted to do after a long day on the water is lift a >100lbs Pro Angler over my head. There are no stores that carry this thing so returning a 5 foot piece of heavy metal was beyond expensive. The owner will not help if you are not satisfied. My $4000 kayak fell off while trying to position onto the ($150 extra) bunks. Do yourself/shoulders/wallet a favor and get a cheap trailer. Also, your back hatch won't open all the way with this monstrosity on it

Keith, Thanks for the review. Sorry to hear that happend to you. I was looking to get one myself, but I'm now thinking twice. Did you end up returning it? If not, where are you located? I'd be interested in possibly purchasing to try it out. Thanks!

Im getting a kayak thats over 100lbs thats like the hobie pa14 and yea I totally understand.. how is it ez when you still have to lift it above your head to place it on the rack.. that aint easy.. What I'd do to make it better is instead of it coming all the way to the ground like it does.. id have it comes down to about the knees, have a V on the end with a roller.. just place the end of the kayak on the V.. go to the other end and push it onto the rack.. then the other modification that should be done is the straight arms that come out you strap onto.. id have them bent upwards on the ends so that strap can not at any point be able to slip off. I'd get a trailer but the issue is I go camping with a custom made camper trailer and I'd have to have the kayak on the car roof either way.. lots of ways to assist kayaks weighing less then 80lb but not many good ones for over 90lb

Thanks. I have a 100 lb 1965 Alcort Sailfish sailboat. I don’t have room for a trailer.
