Are you going to keep it as a ditch dumper (dumps to the right)? Here, first thing would be to switch it to dump to the left. You'll like the bigger wagon, especially the super single truck tires. Here, where we don't have the hills that you do, the 7600 would be fine on that wagon. Have had upwards of 1000 bushel behind a 4440 before, with no real problems. Just take your time loaded, and plan your stops.

When it is time for "new" tires, look for used airplane tires! The work very well for grain carts and are affordable too!
@lukestrawwalker6 жыл бұрын
So long as they're not towed over 30 mph for any length of time. If operated at "highway speeds" for more than about 10 minutes, they'll quickly start to overheat and will blow out if not allowed to cool down. They're rated for 200+ MPH on airplanes, but the plane only does that speed on the ground for about maybe a minute at most during the takeoff or landing run, so they don't have TIME to heat up enough to hurt anything. Later! OL J R :)

We've pulled 2x600bu Bach Run wagons with a JD 7330 premium no problem! I'm sure the 7600 would pull it no problem! And we pull 3 600 bu wagons with a 7230R! Very common here in Ontario. I'd seriously consider buying the other 3 that guy traded in! They are super handy!!!!
@patrickverkley3237 жыл бұрын
We normally harvest with 3 chains of wagons. One guy in the combine, one in the grain buggy, and one guy road running one of the 3 chains to the bin or grain mill. Pretty efficient system for us so far! In your case, I'd run the 8235r on the wagons as it's fast and use the slower 4640 on the the grain buggy. Anyways, just a (hopefully helpful) suggestion from a Canuck who's been using gravity wagons for as s long as I can remember! ;)

@traviskaeb64897 жыл бұрын
You should have gotten a Brent, Unverferth, or J&M with surge brakes. As long as your tractor brakes are good, the wagon will push against the tractor and compress a brake cylinder applying brakes to the wagon. No electronics involved. Just a suggestion.
@RoederFamilyFarms3 жыл бұрын
I agree, we have both J&M and EZ Trail wagons on our farm and the EZ Trails have nothing on the J&M. They trail awful and welds tend to crack. No such issues with the J&M boxes. All of them we bought brand new and the the J&Ms are older than the EZ Trails!

you need to remember they don't engineer these wagons to exact sizes. they may say 500 bushel but that's a calculated struck level volume and their going to be understated on size because if they say 500 and it is 480 bushel people will complain. so when you heap it full I bet you could see 550-600 bushels

@lukestrawwalker6 жыл бұрын
Those are just old semi truck super-singles... working in the fields and stuff they'll pack up with mud in the first couple revolutions anyway, regardless of how deep the grooves are. Basically it doesn't matter if they're slick or not... so long as they're round and hold air and aren't cracked all to pieces from old age, they should work fine for what they're doing. Not like they're hauling that weight down the road at highway speed or anything. They just need to be able to hold enough air pressure to support the weight and not blow out. Later! OL J R :)

allislover12 I could see it, we use a 105hp tractor to pull a Brent 644 and 444 hooked up we put them up and down ridge roads that some wouldn't feel comfortable driving a atv up, The 7600 would pull their two wagons no problem on the road and field roads, especially with front wheel assist, The only thing is though if Ryan feels comfortable pulling a load with the 7600, maybe it should just stay on the auger or the Tedder.

Somebody tell me if you apply bedliner to a grain cart if it's doable or efficient for protection against rust/corrosion. Thanks.
@farmallskittle7 жыл бұрын
Michael Baumgardner no bedlinen is not slick enough
@lukestrawwalker6 жыл бұрын
Bedliner usually has a very rough texture when dry (to give added traction to prevent stuff from sliding around in the bed of the truck while driving, and to prevent slips and falls when climbing/walking in the truck bed. Grain carts use gravity to pull the grain down the sloped floor sheets to the door or auger... they need to be SLIPPERY to do that, so bedliner would have the opposite effect. If you want to minimize corrosion and make the cart clean out better, apply SLIP-PLATE to the floor-- some of it sprays on some is brushed or rolled on, depending on the formulation... it makes the floor slipperier so that the grain can move down the sloped sheets easier with less friction, which reduces wear on the metal from somewhat abrasive grain sliding over it. It's also usually a carbon-based or silicone based material that helps reduce corrosion. The other thing is, clean everything thoroughly after use and then paint over areas scoured down to bare metal with some spray paint... Later! OL J R :)

@TheGhostOfLuciasClay7 жыл бұрын
Tom Reel corn is 56 lbs per bushel dry 500 bushel is 28000 lbs or 14 ton. corn right out of the field is heavier because its higher moisture so with wagon he could be from 15-20 tons
@TheGhostOfLuciasClay7 жыл бұрын
Tom Reel soybeans are 60 lbs per bushel dry
@robertreznik93307 жыл бұрын
Around here, dryer corn weighs more. That is for a given volume. The bushel came about because farmers in the past did not have scales but could measure volume. Now farmers are stuck in the past so still sell by the figurative bushel but use a scale. We should be using the metric system by now but are resistant to change to a better way.
@TheGhostOfLuciasClay7 жыл бұрын
Robert Reznik true. the standard use is 56 lbs per measured bushel at 15% moisture but they also check test weight with a density scale similar use with fertilizer and yes a bushel could weigh more and they have formulas to adjust price for weight and moisture to be inline to the standard bushel
@robertreznik93307 жыл бұрын
When I was young in 1960 we used hundred wt., in West Texas and to the West. The Mid West looked very backward to us. Their low yields reflected their state of mind. Using a gravity wagon would have been the talk of the town because we used trucks...not pickup trucks or tractors. Not using a semi trailer is a site to see and a big waste of time in the 21th century.

@dirtthunder16387 жыл бұрын
Just buy a grain truck!
@ChalkyDaBoss7 жыл бұрын
its all well and good only spending a bit of money and saving slightly more time, but all you are doing is accumulating more trailers etc and more hastle. Why not just buy a decent sized trailer that is better built and in a better condition/new for a few thousand more; save a lot more time and have less trailers. For example that pervious EZ Trail you bought in 14' and you were constantly doing repair work and you threw it away after 3 years. If you have to do repairs on stuff you want to be doing it on kit that you've had for 10+ years not just after a couple, get your moneys worth
@HowFarmsWork7 жыл бұрын
The EZ Trail we had to buy in 14 because it was set up for fertilizer how we needed it to be. We stopped and transitioned to a method that's more efficient so we stopped using it. I'm not sure how you mean we're accumulating more trailers, if you've watched the last few videos you'll see that we're now down 1 wagon because of the one we junked and the one they took in this video. We would buy a larger trailer for a few thousand more if we could find one but to find one in good condition much larger than this one, you're talking 10K+ dollars.
