finally got around to installing my EZ Way tilt over Tower. this Tower is likely from the '60s or '70s and has been well maintained. The biggest issue in the past with them was, the drain holes on the top sections would clog, fill up with water and eventually rust from the inside out The tower is galvanized steel, which itself is rust resistant, but not rustproof. I have replaced all of the necessary hardware that is suggested to be replaced when erecting the tower, such as the aircraft cable. hinge pins, winch support hardware, and the manual crank winch itself if it shows excessive wear and tear, as a failure, especially when cranking up or down can result in property damage, personal injury and even death. As with all erected antenna systems, make sure your location is clear of any electrical hazards, (overhead power lines) as well as buried utilities. It should be noted that when digging, even a foot or more, you should dial *811 to schedule location of all utilities in the proposed area you're digging. Not only to avoid interrupting your local power, cable or telephone, but more and more properties have underground power, and they're allowed in most cases to be 18" or thereabouts. The installation here is in no way seemed to be an instructional guide. Also, he advised that certain localities require a structural engineer's certification, especially with this tower, since the manufacturer went out of business. When in doubt, check it out!
