Dear Natasha, thank you so much for all your well organized teaching materials. Russian is a tough language to learn; but your teaching method is great because you patiently repeat in slow mode for us to make it easier. And your beautiful smile is a huge motivation for me to want to learn from you. You remind me of my beloved first-grade teacher whom I loved dearly even when I was just a child. Вы красивая женщина. Спасибо большое!

I love the. Story of the babushkas . We found so many were helpful when we first moved to Russia. I had very bad broken ungrammatical Russian which was frustrating for some , one day i asked for directions from a stree tvendor and she was a very angry so i bought her a flower on my way back. She was so appreciative. So its worth the effort to show love and Kindness. Even to the oclerks that wouldn’t get up to show. Me an item on Novy Arbart!!!

I enjoyed your stories of those crazy old ladies. I used to live in Tokyo in the eighties, there you would find older, slightly past middle-aged women who would wear kimonos and sport some dyed hair dews. These women were famous for running in front of everyone, cutting in line and just over all aggression unbefitting of a polite Japanese female. They were truly comical. Also, in the early days of my own marriage my Cantonese wife would love for me to read her excerpts from the Charles Dickens novel “Great Expectations”. The character in the book she was most fond of was Joe Gargery, a strong but gentle hulk of a man who always humbly received great abuse and even beatings from his domineering wife…later in our marriage, my wife’s mom and dad moved in and I noticed her mother always loudly heaping criticism and rage on her husband and then it hit me, this poor man, that he just might represent my own future… : )
@NatashaspeaksRussian8 жыл бұрын
+Mitchel Mills, I really hope it won't happen to you. :) I think your wife simply adores her dad and she loved to listen to "Great Expectations" because she noticed the resemblance. And I think the father is her role model (humble and kind), and if it is so, then you are a very lucky man. ;) Ah, Tokyo! I would love to go there one day. I am really dreaming about Japan. Well, one day... I can't believe that there are also crazy old ladies! If they are in Japan, then I think they are everywhere, an international phenomenon! :D

Natasha speaks Russian Sad, I think they ruined Tokyo the same way they ruined the Ukraine with faulty Nuclear Reactor construction and all that radiation that must be floating around. Tokyo is a real clean city, New York is a real dump in comparison.
@NatashaspeaksRussian8 жыл бұрын
+Mitchel Mills Yes, that is sad. But I still want to go there one day. :)

Oh no, sorry to hear you had problems with old lady...!! I think it hurt you, never mind on plus side I have always found old ladies pleasant in Russia,
@NatashaspeaksRussian8 жыл бұрын
You are lucky! :) It didn't hurt me but on the days when I wasn't in a good mood, she just would make me feel even more miserable, then I would get a feeling that everything around is bad, wrong. Nobody likes to hear bad words, it feels much better to be surrounded with happy positive people. :)

Why not direct translate so I can learn proper structure? Example: My name is________ in English. Is actually: I am called________ in Russian.
@NatashaspeaksRussian7 жыл бұрын
I see your point but I find such a translation confusing. Text written in English but with the structure of Russian sentences is difficult to read. Besides, I must have terrific knowledge of the English language to be able to translate it literally (or very close to literally) and keep it understandable. I am always trying to find the closest translation (if I can use the structure of Russian sentence, I mean, if it still sounds OK in English, I use it) but pretty often I don't know if such a sentence makes sense in English, therefore, I use the translation that sounds the best or "safe"/understandable in English and if it is very far from literal translation, usually I give the literal translation in the brackets. I want to recommend you 2 websites where you can see the structure and the translation of each word: www.lingq.com/ 3ears.com/media

Too many mistakes in Russian subtitles (spelling).
@Christian-Gigi7 жыл бұрын
I hate that your english subtitles hide the spelling of the russian equivalent.
@NatashaspeaksRussian7 жыл бұрын
Oh, I cannot change it anymore. In later videos I put Russian subtitles higher so they stay above the English subtitles. There is the way though to see both subtitles, move the cursor over the English subtitles, then the cursor will become a little hand, you can "grab" the line of subtitles and move it, for example, you can put it on the top of the screen. I hope it helps. ;)
