I have bipolar disorder, and several of my extended family members do too. And I'm disabled because of it. I just went through my sixth hospitalization this last October from psychosis since December 2017, and it feels kind of like that, that it feels like that, that you have to move forward and be hopeful and joyful even when things look bleak.

Man i'm tearing up just hearing you talk about the book. I need to read it - and i'll be a mess of tears. I was born disabled... and I have parents... I'm glad to see more in depth reviews! I love learning about animals and people's stories (usually seperately, combined is a nice treat!). I also love memoirs and listening to them on audiobook. I actually struggle with audiobooks because adhd won't allow me to focus on it, but I keep trying however memoirs read by the author are an exception. I tend to do well listening to them!

This was really good! I like this format. I worry only about you having to churn out and post more videos every month, but if you can handle it, then full steam! I think i still have too much mama drama to read this book, though the science stuff does sound fascinating!

Thanks for the feedback! I'm not sure that I'll do a full video like this for EVERY book, but we'll see! They're pretty easy to make and luckily my hubby (also my assistant) is helping me with editing!

If this is any indication of how awesome you 2025 book reviews are going to go then I'll take these over the wrap ups please and thank you! The quotations that you shared are so profound as well as how relatable the book is to anyone who has had problematic parents.

I loved this way of reviewing the book. The other way you were so rushed i feel. What i missed and would love to hear is how you came by this book. Maybe you say it, and i missed it, but that's something i would like to know. Did you get the book as a present, or did you like the cover, or did you see another review and it made you curious.... that would be fun to hear. 😊

Hi I actually love the idea of only having a wrap up of one or two books. I find myself feeling down after watching people who wrap up 10 to 20 books a month especially if I haven't been able to finish anything or only have 1 book. As someone born with a genetic life-threatening condition the book sounds interesting but I really don't like/get the comparison to climate change. We could have prevented climate change or at least fight against it. There isn't a way of stopping a genetic condition. Which for me sounds too much like eugenics. It's a shame because I really Identify with a lot of what she seems to say. As I too was raised by an abusive mother. Also as the genetic condition only affected 3 of us out of huge families. We were always treated like the outcasts and "freaks" The catch 22 is most of our family treated us like we were contagious and the other half were trying to use our condition to get a diagnosis. Even those who were not biologically related to my dad and so literally could NOT have it. But they lied or omitted to doctors so that they would be seen quicker. "How can people who know that they have a condition that is killing them enjoy every day life" We almost never do. Because on days we have a good day, people see us out and about and if they see walking aids ECT, they think they have the right to ask "what's wrong with you?" or "what happened to you?" You are going about your day. You may even be having fun and it takes one person to take that away from you. Just in late December I left a friend group lunch and was smiling on the way up town in my wheelchair and a group of girls leaving a shop and the girl in front said "nice legs" the rest of the girls laughed. By the time I turned my wheelchair around they were too far away and the footpath was too busy. People think that they have the right to ask about my condition. Strangers on the street. And yes I understand that it is only in my lifetime that the Irish government and Church have stopped locking up disabled people, but that doesn't give strangers the right to ask something that is at best intrusive and at worse it can be retramatizing. And if I were to say something like "that's not your business" I'd be seen as the rude one. Because people don't think asking "what's wrong with you?" Is rude but it is. And they don't like it when their energy is matched.
