Thank you so much for this video!! EzGro should have made one like this. It's much easier to understand the instructions that they included after watching this!

Thanks. Yeah sometimes instructions can be hard to follow. Glad I could help.

Questions . I have been using hydroponics for some time. First is algae growth? A open system like this that light gets into will grow algae. One pump? I lost all of my plants because my pump failed during the night . I had no backup pump. The other is a power outage for 3 hours, again I lost my plants. So because I had no backup pump once I lost my plants. Algae went wild in my first plants and I lost them. Then a thunderstorm happened and I lost power for 4 hours. All plants died. Without a generator or some form of backup power you can’t depend on your system. A alarm that wakes you up if water is not flowing for 30 minutes is a must.

Ok see what your saying. I think ez gro would not technically be hydroponic. It has "earth" type material (grow core) which does two things ... protects the root system and retains moisture. I have not yet experinces algea at all but I did sterilize prior to use. I have no back up pump...if the pump went out I would have about 2-3 days to transfer plants and I "could" hand water if I had to. Sounds like you got the hydroponic thing tackled...luckily I get a little more leeway with my system. Very valid and good points though and definately will consider the backup pump.

Setting up my system with your video, thank you!! One question: how do you refil water and nutrients when it’s time to?
@capitolbassfishing2 жыл бұрын
This is me responding from my fishing channel - I use a 5 gallon bucket and a funnel.
@thomasfribeiro2 жыл бұрын
@@capitolbassfishing thanks for the reply! You add the refil into the long pipe, after removing the upper “fountain” dish?
@typicalguy2 жыл бұрын
I just use a funnel on the metal lid through one of the holes...make sure you pre-mix the food in the water though

Great video thank you. Question, I'm using a ruler to measure the water level, at how many inches should I then fill up?
@capitolbassfishing2 жыл бұрын
Not sure it matters just as long as the mixture is correct.
@typicalguy2 жыл бұрын
Most important to no to overfill...I run the tanks empty and put in about 4-5 gallons at a time.

Why did my pump come in with a clear flexible tubing?
@typicalguy4 ай бұрын
I think it does because that’s the way it’s packaged. I don’t think you need it though. Just the white PVC tube of the center is all you need to use?

Can you use regular soil in this system, or only coco coir?
@typicalguy Жыл бұрын
I think its designed for the free flow of Coco coir

Would you consider doing update videos on your garden?
no but I do get occasional clogs at the top where the course screen filter sits. option, remove the screen/filter. The core settles on the bottom. Another option is to wrap the filter in a nylon cheese cloth or something. For me no issues though.

Why do you use a Clorox bleach solution at first? Is it to clean the pipes of any manufacturing debris?
@typicalguy Жыл бұрын
I guess to make sure there is no contaminants ... probably just water flush is fine
@MrSnacko2 жыл бұрын
My coco mix is watery/soupy. I have about 3 inches of brown water in the bottom when I push the coco fiber to the side. @3:35 you say you already have some mix in when you put the coco block in the container. Is that why yours is not soupy? Or is something wrong with my coco fiber?? Not absorbing like it should? I put exactly 3 gals of water in it.
@typicalguy2 жыл бұрын
No its fine just strain some of the water out. Even if its very wet when you load it into your planter it will only drip down to the collection tank, wont hurt anything.
@MrSnacko2 жыл бұрын
@@typicalguy Thanks for the reply. I wish they included a bit more coir. I'll need to pick a little bit more up at HD. I didn't pack it down, but it's still not quite full enough..

@@MrSnacko did you mix in the perlite?
@MrSnacko2 жыл бұрын
@@typicalguy Yes I did mix in the perlite. I bought a small block of coit today, but I won't use it all I don't think. Also, the instructions say to use the threaded pvc adapters on the pipe, but they don't fit anything. They're all male threads with no female places to screw them in, and the other end of the does not fit in any of the pvc pipe or pump or drip tray. Also, it came with some small tube with no instructions. I called & emailed EzGro today and am waiting for a response.
@typicalguy2 жыл бұрын
@@MrSnacko One threaded fitting into the pump and thats it. Connect the water tubes an slide on the watering cup. The extra stuff just keep in a bag for a rainy day. Most of the parts in the pump box is not needed.

II have tried to order ez grow deck garden . The website will not calculate the shipping charges. I've called them 5 times. They called me one time and I missed their call. They have only an answering machine - no human. I've emailed 3 times - no response. As nice as this system seems, I may let it go . Terrible customer service for spending so much money. They must not need the business. ??? Did you have this much trouble?
@capitolbassfishing2 жыл бұрын
Sorry you’re having issues. I have experienced nothing but good things. Now I haven’t talked to them in a while so I do t know if something has come up. Keep in mind it’s not a big company just a guy his wife and some employees I think. Give ‘em a few more tries or maybe send an email as well as call. Good luck 👍. You wouldn’t believe the way my stuff is growing - inside, in the garage, on lights … it’s nuts

@@capitolbassfishing Thanks so much for responding. I have emailed them. Not certain why the website does not calculate the shipping charges. As far as them contacting me, I just don't get it. I think its been 5 days. I'll let you know if they respond. Have a great growing season!
