We have been playing tourneys here with that ob and I was SO SO excited to see pros have to deal with it. All those amateur triple and quad bogies on 2 were for naught!

@derpderpin1568 26 күн бұрын
OB lines are the dumbest part of disc golf by far and should be removed entirely. If a course doesn't work without them then it's bad design and shouldn't be a course.
@roryh2241
@roryh2241 26 күн бұрын
@@derpderpin1568I respect your opinion but I disagree. Pros can make putts from 40 feet consistently and can get up and down consistently from 400 feet away. How do you design a course with sufficient challenge without OB that isn’t just a million trees?
@zaswsaz
@zaswsaz 26 күн бұрын
@@derpderpin1568 I feel yah and tend to agree, I think the course works just fine without it. The reason that I was told for the OB was that there are signs that say "conservation area" or something similar on the right and the county kinda was placated by the course saying "ob". Not throwing from in there maybe protected the wildlife? I'm just reminiscing that to score on this course you have to throw far, and if you mess up... you could be in ob like 5 times and take massive numbers ;p. I was just hoping some pros would have to share our pain!
@bobbybobman3073
@bobbybobman3073 26 күн бұрын
Add the OB back also my understanding is that it is there because that's some form of "protected land". As in no one is supposed to walk or be their at all, That being said it could be for different holes, that I remember it being there. I assume they aren't breaking the law for this ob removal, so I could be wrong, or the 'protected' status may have changed.

ezra, you practice without a shirt tucked in, you play for fun without a shirt tucked in, yet when it's time to compete, you tuck your shirt in and minimally effect flexibility. i highly recommend competing the way your pracitice and play for fun, and that is with your shirt not tucked in. in this sport with all the backhand motion and putting, that tucked in shirt could be the difference. i would highly suggest giving this advice a shot

For those wondering, the OB on this course is primarily for conservation reasons. Not sure what the work around was for its removal on some holes. I prefer the edges of the fairway to have intermediate rough to test the pros' scramble ability (it is the woods afterall) but if the rough is so dense that it's basically an automatic pitchout then I don't mind the OB for pace of play. Nobody enjoys watching a player take 2-3 shots just to get to the fairway. But I hate OB around the green when you have dense rough because it doesn't punish shots that came into the green bad.
@diox8tony
@diox8tony 23 күн бұрын
18:35 OB doesn't increase the chance of randomness, but it does increase the punishment. OB is equivalent to a "toss 20ft back onto fairway". If there is no OB in that area of the woods, a large percent of the shots would not be "toss 20ft back onto fairway" levels of punishing. with no OB you get a large percent of scramble shots that are also a huge risk/reward factor. Can you toss better than the "flick back onto fairway" or should you take the medicine. I'm not taking sides yet, I do agree it makes decisions harder, higher risk/reward off the tee. But so does really rough woods too. idk

To answer the question... Do they show the hole signs/preview the hole on live coverage? Sometimes and when they do it's usually after the players have teed off so it's not always useful information. DGN needs some help in the producing/directing department for sure. I like watching live disc golf but some of the directing decisions they make are pretty questionable.

If you're going to line the woods with OB, you may as well just play disc golf in a wide open field with OB lines marking the fairway. The woods themselves are a natural OB, and if people go into the woods, I'd rather see them throw from there than take a stroke penalty and throw from the fairway.

Disc vocab question: I've heard a lot of pros (goose in this video) describe a disc moving in the understable direction as "fade". I always thought that was called "turn" and "fade" was in the stable direction. Thoughts?
