I put a 390 automatic in mine and added power brakes . Loved that truck . Downfall is a small cab . Today I would add a foot to the back of the cab . Ac and power steering . I loved that truck .

You are so right! There are sports cars that have more “ cockpit “ room than a “fridge “ ! I have a 59 short wide big window, nearing completion. Hopefully next month. I wish you great luck with your fridge, stay strong brother! Your project is definitely not for sissies! lol. May the “Fordce “ be with you! 😁👍❤️🇺🇸🛻❗️

I've still never found a fridge nose to revive, one of these days! Btw that's your ballast resistor / resistive wire thats source thats gone bad requiring the jumper wire. You'll have 2 ignition sources, a 12v for cranking, and a 9v for full time run. This 9 volt source is reduced down via the ballast resistor (mopar, pre 64 gm, 6v ford) or resistive wire (post 64 gm, pretty much every ford you'll actually touch) to keep the points from burning up. Find that full time 9v source, and its failure, and you'll be set to run off the key. ps. if you ever install an hei or aftermarket ignition, in anything, eliminate the ballast / resistive wire to ensure it gets a FULL 12V Great video guys!!

Definitely one of the holy grail Ford trucks out there, when it comes to four-wheel drive. If I recall correctly, 1958 or 1959 was the first year that Ford offered a factory four-wheel drive on its F-series trucks. The fact that you've got one right there, is rare in itself. I've only seen one on craigslist and maybe AutoTrader Classics once in the last 5 years. It's ironic that America did not really go into the four-wheel drive truck industry beyond the Dodge Power Wagon after World War II until the late '60s onwards. Even the first responders never really started using four-wheel drive other than the forestry service, to provide four-wheel drive trucks and chassis cabs on their fire trucks and ambulances until even the late '80s. Law enforcement, not even until the mid or late 90s, decided to follow suit as well. Locally here, the sheriff's department had a Ford bronco full size around the late 1990s. Now they use Ford Explorer Interceptor units as well as Chevy Tahoes for 3/4 of their fleet. And just about every volunteer fire department has a four-wheel drive ambulance using the Super Duty chassis or the modified super duty Econoline chassis. I myself would have loved to had control of the sales and development of vehicles in the big three motor companies back in the 1950s so as to promote things such as four wheel drive, high torque inline 6 engines or V8 engines, and even diesel engines (as they did exist on commercial semi trucks and boats). People always think Ford didn't have a diesel until International Harvester stepped in during the 1980s, but they actually had Perkins diesel engines on their F-series trucks over in South Africa in the 1970s. But yes, you do have a true gem of a treasure there with this Ford four-wheel drive with the true mechanical and manual operational systems on it. So much better than all the electronic and vacuum operated garbage that they make nowadays, that sells for over $80,000 😂

Where are you at? It looks so much like the chena marina area. We had a place on the corner of skinner dr and marina dr. Left there back in 2013. I do imbibe hamms, however I was sipping on a PBR while watching. Thanks for your videos.

* Hey Brian and Austin ! Nice 59 F100. I have a 1/18 scale diecast of the F250 I got back in the early 90's. Same color and all. I always loved that body style. Weird how they ran the exhaust crossover on the top front of those 292's so you burn your arm doing anything under the hood if it's been running. Cheers 🍻🍺🍻👈😎👍!

Run a wire from the run side of the solenoid to a ballast resister then to the coil . Or a wire from run side of ignition switch to resister to coil . Should work then .

I am not sure about the older Fords but the exact ignition issue was/is caused by a faulty electrical portion of the ignition switch. When coming back from the start position to the run the ignition switch would not make proper contact and would shut off just as though you turned the switch back to the acc. or off position. Even though the key position is in run the electrical contacts inside are not. Just a possibility Love the rescue on this gem.
