My vote is for leaving it intact and fixing it up. A flatbed truck with a dump bed is much more useful than a little old pick-up.

I think the truck should be kept intact and all original. Definitely need to flush out the cooling system and check the ignition timing. With some hard work she will be a solid runner. That old Flathead sounds great. Hard to believe those old trucks actually run and drive. Makes me want to buy an old car and wrench on it. Keep making these interesting videos.

I have a 52 GMC 1 1/2 ton flatbed for sale if you are serious about getting an old truck to wrench on. It even comes with the stuck engine package to make it more challenging.

lmao good luck thats the problem with everyone these days they have a old vehicle that's been sitting around and no longer in the condition that even warrants being worth that price 2500 or usually whatever absurd price people are wanting and so it just sits there longer and longer rusting and falling apart more meanwhile anytime someone does ask to try and buy it they never come off that stupid absurd price that they had set when it even somewhat was in decent shape but still 25 years+ later is practically a hunk of rust on wheels they don't lower the price so it sits and rots. People are dumb and it's such a shame all of the cool old vehicles that potentially could be saved and give someone else joy and pleasure restoring to formerish glory and making use out of will never likely happen for that reason.@@jerrybrooks870

I was born in 1955 and grew up with a dad and an uncle that worked on old vehicles like this all the time. Your videos bring back great memories for me. I used to stick my hands in the oil and grease just so I could use a hand cleaner to clean them. At that time the hand cleaner was yellow and in a tall can like a tennis ball can. Thanks buddy.

I'm 70, and one of my earliest memories was that my Father owned a 48 Ford Flatbed almost identical to this one. It was grey with a stake-side flatbed that he used to haul products around on in the Newburgh, New York area, including large boxes packed with dry ice to haul Ice cream to some of the Summer Camps in the Adirondack Mountains north of New York City. I'd love to find another one like it...

If it’s not hard to turn by hand but the starter is having a hard time turning it it’s probably a starter problem a lot of times the bearings the starter go out and it makes them short out and spin very slowly

Thinking back I'm pretty sure the hand crank was super stiff even with the starter. We did fill the cylinders with oil then put the spark plugs in before leaving it again so I think I'll give it another go this week. If it's still stiff I guess I'll have to give rebuilding the starter a go, we never did do that. Thanks for the inspiration

Quick update, I went out there this morning and worked on it a while. It was still really stiff until I decided to spin it backwards before going in. It clunked a few times and actually freed up!
