F-14A TOMCAT US.NAVY 1/48 Scale Full Build (Academy)

This is a video of F-14A assembly and painting.
The Academy 1/48 scale Tomcat was first released in 1988.
Lacquer paint and enamel are used, and brush paint is acrylic paint.
I am not good at English so please understand even if the sentence is strange.Thank you.

1.Perhaps many people feel that this kit is not as good as the latest F-14's cool plastic models.
The kit(1/48 scale) is old and not renewed (as of January 2020), so the F-14 kit lacks details compared to other Tamiya and other kits, and the shape of the head has a different curve than the actual one. .
But I've seen this kit in stores as a boy in the 80's, but I have memories I've never made.
The kit reminded me of my boyhood.
2. Air fighters are generally kept clean, but many of the navy aircraft that have been around for a long time are quite dirty. The F-14 is a naval ship with four upgrades: A, B, C and D. Operated for 20 to 30 years, the F-14, like other naval aircraft, is affected by the sea's appearance and weathering.Of course, there are also many modern naval aircraft that are all kept clean.

3.The middle frame of the Wild Shield is painted. The middle frame of the windshield clear part of the kit was dimmed invisible, probably because the mold is old. So I thought it would be better to mask only that part separately after completion. I was busy with work and it was late. Thank you

This is not an easy kit to build has a whole lot of flaws and fit issues the biggest gripe I had and not every one can see it is the misshapen nose it has a too high a curve along the bottom of it. I had to grind it away and completely rebuild it. But with some hard work it turns into a nice looking f-14.

You would never see a Tomcat that dirty in the air. Think you got the pilot and RIO backwards too. The HUD should have been painted with the Tamiya clear green.

awesome work, as a beginner I actually learned a lot from this. A LOT. I loved how you camouflaged it by spray paint, when you were making circles then painted over it, but still you can tell it's camouflaged. killer job man. cheers.

Now this is a model, Academy did a great job in this price point. Idiots will try to count rivets and details not realizing these are models not replicas and yes there's a huge difference and cost increase on replicas. Good work great build.

순서가 정해져 있지는 않습니만 유화 워시는 일반적으로 신너가 에나멜 신너가 많이 사용되기떄문에, 데칼을 붙이고 웨더링단계에서 많이 사용됩니다.. 일반적으로 데칼을 붙인뒤에 유광또는 반광 클리어(슈퍼클리어 락카계)뒤에 자유롭게 하시면 좋을것 같습니다.

Your model turned out really good! I am also working on this kit. I also had problems with the front of the fuselage and under the the engine trunks. Filling those gaps was a task. I had to rescribe and make some new panel lines. I am just now preshading mine. Hopefully it will come out descent. I will be doing the Grim Reapers vf-101 version from DMX decals. Once I airbrush the 1st main color I will upload it to my channel if you are interested.

you're right. This kit doesn't exactly embody Tomcat's look. Kits made more accurately were made well by Tamiya and other makers. In 1988, I did not make this kit when I was younger, when I was a boy, when I was short of pocket money. This kit reminded me of my childhood. So I knew it was a bad kit, but I made it. My English may not be correct for native speakers. Thank you.

Thank you. I use an airbrush at 2.3 bar(For Acrylic, under2 bar for lacquer) pressure and finely control the pressure with the air pressure adjustment coupler.

멋집니다. 예전 미공군옆에 살 때 비행기소리만으로도 기종을 다 알아었어요. 아쉽게도 톰캣은 해군에서 많이 쓰고 비싼기종이라 우리나라에는 들어오지 않았죠. 작업하신 것처럼 우리나라에서 저런 외관으로 비행기 관리하면 공군병사들 100% 영창갑니다. 비행기 닦는게 일과였습니다.

When hand painting with Vallejo Acrylics, are you using adding any water/thinner, or just paint only??

Thank you. The painting used in this work can be done with a 0.2mm cheap airbrush. The dilution ratio is the ratio of paint 1 thinner 1.5. Have a nice model work!

아크릴으로 워싱을연달아하려면 워싱한번한후에 다시 바니쉬로 코팅을하고 다시해야될까요? 잠시건조시킨후 바로해도상관없는지요?

워싱후 코팅하는 이유는 보통 직전작업까지 안전하게 남기는 이유가 큽니다. 워싱하면서 지워내면 코팅한 부분의 하도는 안지워 지니까요. 하시려는 목적이 웨더링 표현이면 경우에 따라 선택하셔서 코팅을 하시거나 안하시거나 선택하시면 될것 같습니다. 그리고 아크릴 바니쉬코팅은 표면이 거칠어서 워싱을 하는 목적에 따라 안맞을수도 있으니, 락카코팅같은 표면을 매끄럽게 하는 만드는 코팅과 구분해서 사용하시면 좋을것 같습니다.

감사합니다. 아네 콕핏작업은 계기판은 밑색 검은색 빼고는 아크릴로 했습니다. 클리어류는 아무래도 바예호 아크릴로는 표현이 어려운거 같습니다, 그런 계통은 타미야 에나멜/락카/아크릴 류 쓰시는게 효과가 좋으실것 같습니다. 이 작업에서 메탈색상낸것은 부스터 뿐인것 같은데 오토류 처럼 번쩍번쩍한 유광작업이 아니면 아크릴로도 메탈느낌은 괜찮습니다. 아크릴만 가지고 해도 이 F-14표현은 다 가능한것 같습니다. 저는 편의상 락카도료를 조금 사용하긴 했습니다.

@@김나얼-n4p 희석해서 써도 되고 원액으로 써도 됩니다. 붓도색은 물하고 같이 쓰셔도 되고 에어브러쉬는 희석제와 같이 쓰여야 합니다, 통은 작아 보입니다만, 모형 칠할때 생각보다 도료를 많이 쓰지 않습니다. 제 채널에 올라온 모형만들면서 아직까지도 아크릴은 다쓴도료가 없습니다. 블랙과 화이트는 일반적으로 많이 사용되지만 다른색들은 생각보다 정말 조금씩 사용하게 됩니다.

글만으로는 어떤 상황인지 정확히는 모르겠지만 붓도색이 잘안된다는 말씀이실걸로 예상되는데, 아크릴이 아주 반들반들한 면에 붓도색이 잘안됩니다. 해결법은 초벌칠을 해서 말린다음에 덫칠을 하는게 일반적이고, 혹시 무광 마감제 스프레이류 탑코트/슈퍼클리어 등이 있으면 살짝 뿌린후에 도색하면 붓도색이 더 잘됩니다. 아니면 무광 아크릴 마감제를 바른다음에 말린후에 도색하셔도 괜찮습니다.

해군기는 특히더 풍화영향을 많이 받습니다. 실제 항공모함위의 톰캣 사진 보시면 자연적인 웨더링이 정말 멋집니다. 왜 더러워지는냐고 물으신다면 자동차 눈비 맞고 한두달 지나면 차가 더러워지는것과 같은 이치입니다. 실제 항공기 콕핏을 보면 정비할떄마다 모듈을 거의 분해해서 정비하고 붙입니다. 모두 금속재질이기 떄문에 긁히는것이 정말 많아서 애니메이션같은 그런 느낌이아닙니다. 기스가 정말 많은데. 그것이 정비의 흔적이고 전투기의 숙명이라고 할수있습니다.

조선자는 묽은 편이라 물을 희석제로 쓴다면 1:1 또는 그 이하가 되어야 합니다 리타더를 쓴다면 물에 10~15%정도 입니다. 사용하시는 물용기에 리타더를 10프로 정도 섞어놓으시고, 사용하시면 도움이 될것 같습니다. 조선자 사용하신다면 아크릴 프라이머는 같이 사용하셔야 스트레스를 그나마 덜받을실것 같습니다.

@@animalyze7120 i will be more than happy to pay this price for one replica with retractable landing gear is there is any as long as the quality built is there. But unfortunately I couldn’t find any just yet. And retractable landing gear don’t necessarily make the price higher. Transformers has them on their masterpiece model of the F-15 for instance and it pretty close to a replica for under $100. I think it’s more of a common use of replica makers to not have moving parts… unfortunately.

안녕하세요 프라아트님. 영상 잘 보고 있습니다. 여러 기법과 힌트 잘 배워 갑니다. 이번에는 구판의 접합선 수정하느라 고생하셨겠네요. 에어로 제작할 때 사포질은 어느 정도로 해야 할 지 여쭙고 싶습니다. 저는 에어브러쉬가 없어서 붓도색으로 하는데, 고방수까지 사포질하면 더 좋은 결과가 나오는지 확신이 없어요. 전에 72짜리 킷 전체 사포질(4000방까지) 하다가 너무 고생스러워서(사포질만 두 달 걸림), 새로 에어로 작업하려니 엄두가 안 나네요.. 사포질 빡빡하게 한 것 치곤 결과가 그리 좋지도 않았고..

안녕하세요 사포질에 대한 제 생각은 접합선을 수정하기 위한 퍼티나 본딩을 너무 얇게 바르면 사포질에 시간을 투자해도 결과가 좋지 않게됩니다. 얇으먄 전체적으로 발랜스가 안잡혀서 상처만 납니다. 연결부에 적정한 높이로 하는것이 효율적인데 이것은 경험치에서 오는 부분도 있다고 생각합니다. 그래서 연료탱크 같이 남는 부품이나 테스트해볼만 것으로 사포질 해보시고 요령을 익히면 후에는 오히려 쉽게 작업하실수 있지 않을까합니다.저도 사포질에 경험이 많아서 익숙하거나 하지는 못합니다.

​@@pla_art감사합니다. 프라모델 접한 뒤로 나는 무엇이 변했나, 돌아보면 참 긍정적인 습관들(꼼꼼함, 세심함, 집중력 등등)이 많이 생겼는데, 아직 프라 만드는데 실력이 모자라다 싶은 게 많네요. 실력 향상을 위하다 무엇을 나빠졌나 돌아보면, 시력, 혈압 상승, 고체중, 신경질.. 아니 농담이구요. 덕분에 사포질 부담감은 좀 내려 놓고 착수할 수 있겠습니다. 프라모델, 참 쉽지 않은 취미네요 ㅎㅎ

안녕하세요. 희석비는 1:1 을 두고 스타일에 따라서 신너를 줄이거나 더 넣으시면 됩니다. 많이 사용하시는 타미야 아크릴을 개인적으로는 저도 사용하고 싶은데 이미 도료가 많이 구비된 상태라 추가하고 싶은데 못하게 되네요.크흑

@@fbfb737 스폰지 도색이 특색있는 도색법이긴 하고, 또 편리한 방식이긴합니다.그렇지만 항공기는 표면이 매끄러워야 하는 특성이 있어서, 항공기에서는 하지 않게 되는거 같습니다. 아주 얇게 여러번 올려야 하는데 매우 여러단계를 올려야 할텐데, 꽤 손이 많이 갈것 같습니다.물론 핸드페인팅으로 해야 한다면 활용해 볼 방법일수는 있습니다. ~
