F-15A Stock Grind (commentary)

I had to stockgrind the F15 and other aircraft with 2 9Ls, that was pain. happy about the new missile update for stockgrinding but also pissed I didn’t get to have that while i was stockgrinding 😂

I’m pretty sure the F-16A vs F-15A is a mostly even fight in the game, but I haven’t ground the F-16 tree yet so I don’t actually know

@@LeftyTheHefty F-15A turns better, accelerates better, has a higher top speed, and has better missiles. However the F-16A variant which is right before the ADF does win in dogfights against F-15A

@@LeftyTheHefty F-16A has the edge if the fight gets slow cause the RB instructor has a slightly higher AOA cap, and the plane is much lighter (Assuming F-15 isn't in a position to take the fight vertical). But if it's at higher speed, the F-15A has an advantage in both energy retention, and instant agility. That and the unholy thrust to weight ratio F-15A has. It mainly comes down to the pilots, but F-15A is undeniably a notch above due to having Aim-9M, two more sparrows, and FOUR TIMES THE COUNTERMEASURES.

Man I played a bit last night with the F-15A and it was hell with all the Fox 3's, 90% of my matches were uptiers and it wasn't very fun. 😭

The uptiers are definitely the Achilles’ heel of this thing, but in my experience you absolutely have a fighting chance if you stay low and/or aggressively notch

Haha, I think it's pretty fun. You can do a lot of Ace Combat type stuff in ARB but it's grounded enough in reality that it's a believable fantasy for adults.

You're not as cooked as you'd think. ARH is annoying but most of the time I die to aim120 I probably would still have died if it were an aim7. Even at rank 8 phoenix spam reigns supreme as the most annoying thing to deal with IMO

Practically, no. At a glance it appears that the F-16s are pretty much identical, but the F-15J gets an IR missile that the F-15A does not (AAM-3) that relative to the 9M is slightly heavier, can turn slightly harder, and has slightly lower guidance time. So the answer is yes, but also no haha

@@LeftyTheHefty AAM-3's edge over Aim-9M isn't even really it's slight agility increase (~34G vs ~30G in practice). It's the range buff you get from the missile having 16% less drag. Some shots I've gotten with AAM-3 are nothing short of NASTY in regards to range.

Idk if it’s a skill issue but I’ve tried notching and chaffing to defeat radar missiles and I find they still hit me a lot of the time, the most effective way I’ve found to defeat them is just to fly fast really close to the ground … which is what I like doing anyway 😁 It’s just a preference but I’d rather have the extra thrust/mobility/weaponry than the chaff. I’m sure after I get better at the game I’ll change my position on that

@@LeftyTheHefty Notching with chaff is definitely an acquired skill. Forced myself to learn it back when radar missiles got capable enough that you couldn't just Out-G them. Can confidently say every radar missile in the game, including R-27ER, can be reliably defeated without too much chaff. It's just that your margins are very small, and if you're not perfectly in the notch, it doesn't really work. Once you learn it, climbing becomes an extremely effective tactic since you can lob missiles down on the furball with a notable range or time to impact advantage
