That's what killed him, the second he did that he was gone. Worst of all he went straight. The "enemy" was trying to catch up with him and line him up to lock on or hit him with his cannon, it depends. When he turned he went straight into his line of target, which gave the "enemy" to kill him.

This is a rate fight or "2 circle" Instead of trying to pull high Gs and pull your nose towards the bandit, you are trying to fly in a circle path to his tail position. Like yourr both on a circle race track and youre goal is to pull the stick and manage the throttle just right so that your aircraft is max-performing and coming around the circle faster than the opponent. Its a dual over who can master the aircraft and engine rather than who can pull the most Gs and make the tightest turn circle (which is called a 1 circle fight btw) The guy in the back managed his engine masterfully and ripped around the circle faster. When this guy heard the altitude warning he rolled to climb back up (you lose if you go below the "hard deck") which forced him to break out of his rate fight and the bandit slides right in on him because it messed up his rate around the circle. His only choice was to try to "nose counter" by watching the bandit, and using his energy to quickly jink away from the bandits nose and hopefully force an over-shoot (this aint gonna work if he has a fox 2) But the bandit masterfully managed his closure rate and pulled up his nose to avoid the overshoot. Its unclear whether he got a radar lock or maybe just got an IR lock with a training missile but either way he got into the "control zone" and won the fight. Essentially what happened is this guy here was trying to control his rate speed but his nose got too low and thus while coming around his circle he approached the "hard deck" ( an imaginary ground height set to whatever altitude for training) when you approach the ground you have to do a "deck transition" to stay in your rate fight without slamming into the earth. Basically this guy didnt keep track of the "ground" good enough so it caught him off guard and made his deck transition / recovery sloppy and his opponent jumped on him like a duck on a june bug. BTW if anyone disagrees with my analysis I am by no means an expert and am fine with being wrong this is just my 2000 hour arm chair fighter pilot take.

I could be wrong but I think the heavy breathing is not about being tired or physically straining to fly the aircraft, but he’s I using the pressure from straining to make it harder for the blood to rush out of his head and to his legs… I know his g-suit is inflating and squeezing his legs to make it harder for blood to rush into his legs and feet.

Someone explain the “lag” “ab” and when they say “knock it off”
@kylervoie
@kylervoie 2 жыл бұрын
In aerial combat there are 3 methods of pursuit, lead, lag, and pure. They are employed situationally and only when the pair are in relative extremely close range (eyesight visual is considered very close with the advent of good radar). Pure is the simplest, it’s when you as the chasing plane in a dogfight are aiming straight at the leading plane during a maneuver in an attempt to quickly line up a shot. Generally you have to be right on their ass. Lead is just what it sounds like, you (as the chaser) are aiming in front of the plane in front of you. This is usually done when the guy you’re chasing is faster than you, or you otherwise need to close distance. You’re setting up a pure pursuit maneuver by using a steeper angle of pursuit to catch up to them. Or, you can shoot and let them fly into your shots but good luck with that. Lag is when you’re aiming behind the leader. This is for when you’re going too fast, over-pursued, or generally want them further in front of you to discourage roles reversing. “Knock it off” just means their simulated dogfight is over. The guy we’re watching in the video lost, he’s impressed because he was trying his hardest and the guy behind him was just that good. Keeps from accidentally crashing.

"knock it off" is to stop the "fight" as he clearly lost in this fight and got "shot".

It did in the past and it was serious, like permanent brain damage. Far better now with pre flight O2 therapy and I think nitrogen purging? It's fascinating and was a huge problem until maybe 2002. I think Ward Carroll talks about it in depth.

They breathe that way on purpose to help keep the blood where it is supposed to be. They tense their legs and compress their abdomen too while breathing this way.

@@captaincaptain2128 it's purposely done because it's hard to breath in when under G forces and they are also flexing a lot of the lower half of body to keep blood from leaving their vital areas (head, torso)

One of the best ways I've heard a pilot explain it is imagine you're trying to crush a walnut with your butt cheeks. That's the force they're making to attempt to keep blood/oxygen in the extremities most importantly the brain to prevent G-lock
