They did. In late 80s early 90s with multi directional thrust vectoring. Wayy before Russians put thrust vectoring on fighters. I dunno why they didn't put it on f16 at one point they was able to fly backwards. Check it out kzbin.info/www/bejne/mpubgH2pa6pmgK8

Yep, then it appears he forgot they were extended and did a high speed pass with them out. Guess the -16 doesn't have auto-retract.

I think it was because of the Skyraider. I've seen heritage flights with the P-51, F-16 and A-10 and the Fighting Falcon wasn't needing to use the air breaks as much if at all.

Man, I was sitting in the Culver’s in town there and I saw the three planes go by, then the viper went over really fast right over us a few minutes later! We had arrived to Oshkosh while the Friday show was going on, so we were able to have a couple doc flyovers. We had also seen the mass formation of I think t-28s I believe and almost all of the jet warbirds. The Saturday show was pretty good with the warbirds, the b-52, the f-22s, tankers, etc. it was probably the best show of the year so far. My last show of the year will be Thunder Over Michigan which is looking beautiful

Techy Las: If I could own one warbird, it'd be the B-2 stealth bomber, which I would promptly sell back to the USAF. They cost about two billion each brand new, so presently one would still be worth at least 1/2 to 3/4 of a billion dollars. I could do a lot of good with that much coin. But if the question were instead worded to be which warbird would I like to own that I could fly by myself, I'd probably pick a P-38. If limited to one engine and one prop, I'd probably choose a SIAH Marchetti SF-260C or a Beech Turbo Mentor..

Interesting -- The F16 demo looks oddly similar to the F35a @ RIAT last week (mirrored)...... 35 was much slicker and appeared to climb from minimal airspeed faster than the 16. Perhaps that's why they're nearly the same? This will be a great set of videos to compare once the 35 does its performance.

dberaupilot I haven't heard of the term prior to this video, but I believe it's considered non aerobatic because there aren't as many inverted stunts done right in front of the audience. He flew higher than most dedicated demo pilots do. I assume that he wasn't trained/certified to do the type of stunts that the East and West Coast Viper Demo Teams do.

I talked to the pilot he had to fly non aerobatic and high because he needed to run a modified show for Oshkosh. Show box at EAA isn't as big as most other airshows so he had to modify the routine to meet airshow guidelines. Normally he does a full demo with aerobatics.

Oshkosh does not (most years) have an aerobatic box large enough for the fast jet demos to perform their normal routines. This is a modified routine that doesn't include knife edge pass, aileron rolls, loops, etc. He did roll a bit on his repositions but those were well away from the crowd and at a higher altitude.

they have pushed the flight line back for the blue angels and Thunderbirds the last time they where here to preform there full show and not be restricted . I'm thinking that is vary hard to do with the amount of people and aircraft as the tents are so close to the flight line?

Carlos Danger yeah for Demos like that, it doesn't carry anything for max agility.
