The Radar in the F-35 is quite an exceptionally, remarkable one! The amount of Aircrafts that it can find and track within like 10 Seconds, is mind boggling! The F-35 is turning out to be quite formidable.
@koshersalaami4 жыл бұрын
The point is a lot of it is not radar at all, it’s infrared sensing. The difference is that radar works sort of like sonar does: you send out a ping and track its reflection back. In fact, stealth is about deflecting and absorbing those signals so reflections don’t end up back at whoever pinged them. Targets know when they’re being pinged and that action tells them a lot about who’s pinging them. IR sensing is passive, it just looks for heat signatures. The party being sensed is unaware of it. By the time they know anything’s happening, a missile is well on its way toward them.

@@rhodium1096 If I recall the incident correctly, the F-22 was not on a mission, and had its transponder switched on, so anyone could have seen it. The F-35 story is suspect because there is no way to tell if an aircraft detected by radar is stealth or not without visual confirmation. The F-35 is roughly the same size and silhouette as the more commonly used Israeli F-16-I and the Russian pilot would have to get pretty close before he could tell one from the other, and long before that could happen, the SU 35 would have been detected, engaged and shot down. Russia has an agreement with Israel to stay clear of Israeli airspace and not to interfere with combat missions over Syria. I am not sure if the F35 can really replace any of these aircraft. It cant replace the A10 for sure since the A10 is just awesome. The F15 lacks stealth characteristics but will be able to keep air superiority easily once established by F22s for example. Both aircraft already in service. The F16 is a proven and extremely well rounded design for a spectacularly low price tag. The F18 makes the most sense to be replaced but it only lacks the stealth, is faster and can carry significantly more firepower. Thats a problem in general for the F35. The only real advantage is the low rcs but at the cost of firepower. If you use wing mounted weaponry it fixes that but at the cost of stealth at which point you can use any other aircraft anyway. I think the F35 should be seen as a suplement not a replacement.

For example, small diameter bombs II are using mm wave radar, infrared and laser guidance (triple modes) in addition to INS and GPS...
@trankt541554 жыл бұрын
Radar tracking is considered ACTIVE tracking and enemy sensors can pick up and provide early warnings; whereas, infrared search and track is considered PASSIVE....and is not detectable by enemy sensors...and that is why it is deadly because you can launch missiles from hundreds of miles out without enemy knowing and everyone knows it is hard to evade missiles once they are locked onto the targets....

Russians installed this on their planes long ago. And the 1000M range is useless. It will pick too many signals from all over around and pollute the information. You only need as much distance as your weapons can reach. F35 most likely will see SAMs and not fighter jets opposing them. All these number games are only good for manufacturer. The next war will be all about cruise and ballistic missiles. BTW, Brits seem cancelling their tanks. US marines already cancelled tanks. US also is looking towards drone-only Air force. Another video about nothing, just like the laser ones. Sounds like something incredible and in reality is nothing special. Would be good to have some vids on the strategy. Kinda forgot to mention that Raytheon has already won the award for the next generation DAS system, and it will be installed in Lot 15 F-35's starting in 2023. The new DAS from Raytheon is rumored to have twice the performance of the original system...

Well im not sure about China but Russia does have a formidable fighter su 57. It's not as stealthy fighter as f35 but is made with the idea in mind to get close to f35 and force it in a dog fight. Where it's maneuvering capabilities will help it fight.
@Kauppi24 жыл бұрын
First of all, the maneuvarability of the SU57 in a dogfight/combat situation, will not be as great as in Airshows or without a payload in general, as it will be loaded with missiles, that increase weight. Thus it comes down to mainly Pilot skills/thinking and missiles/radar. SU-57 is not stealthy, it has some stealth features, such as some radar coating, but it is not precision engineered and has lots of rivets, thus it will be detected by the advanced radars of f-22/35. Maybe with Okhotnik, The drone assistant to SU57, the SU57 can challenge the f22/35. It is not even a interceptor fighter jet, thus it lacks the needed missiles to counter the stealth and radars of F22/35

DAS preserves the stealth of the plane, yes, but the missiles have to emit to kill their targets. Now the enemy knows you are there, what quadrant you are in . If he is close enough he can fight the stealth plane head home!!
@spackle99993 жыл бұрын
F-35 can use DAS to guide missiles near the target until the AAMRAM turns on its own radar, by which point there would be no escaping it, and without ever needing to turn on its own radar.

First of all the Junk 20 uses es-10 engines which are under powered and blow up on long flights, joints and edges bounce back like mirrors and no actual stealth fighter sports dumbo ears.
