Gerwin Bell I would add that the requirement was to be as agile as an F-16 when carrying its full payload. It appears to have met that requirement. As far as being a step up, pilots have said that the F-35s situational awareness and stealth give it a huge advantage over everything but a Raptor.
@forzaelite1248 Жыл бұрын
@@gerwinbell2391 late reply but the F16 is limited to 25-28° AoA, any higher and the nose induces a violent pitch up moment that can depart the aircraft and roll it over. The F35'S pedal turn and tactical pitch are things the F16 just physically can't do. Also the FAA website has a document on the demo maneuvers, they fly this routine with the full 18,000lb fuel load so she's a lot heavier loaded than she looks. It's essentially carrying 2 and a half F16 internal loads and still being comparable in sustained turn rates. I advise looking at the Combined Arms demos to see how much better it retains energy when they don't try to yeet the nose for a tight turn, it gets around 135° in about the same amount of time as here: 5 or so seconds. The Australian demos are also pretty good

I'm starting to think, why are we still strapping a human onboard like how they did it in WW1? Are we really that low-tech still?
@goldenratio51174 жыл бұрын
No of course not...we are light-years beyond what civilians get to see. The proof is already out there.

As long as it can avoid a turning dog fight and more than 4 enemies, it should be pretty decent

Dog Fights? Since when? This extravagance will never see combat.

All the US users emphasize its ability to pick off opponents from a distance. Hopefully the missiles don't miss or get stupid. 😑

Great video ... Loved the pilot's energy but that jet is an under-powered heat seeking IR / IRST detection's dream. And before anyone name calls and tells me I'm and russian bot and all that... Did you watch the video...This is not just for Boom and Zoom for the fans. The jet uses Re-heat alot. Any pull over at or over 3g She is in Re-heat. Nose up 20 Re-heat. High Alpha pass was at pretty high RPMs/Fuel Flow. It clear that jet is not going to be frontline in the traditional sense. She will be commanding drones and re-tasking bomb and missile sleds but a dogfigther it is not. As a command asset I will be fine just like the stuff Russian and China and others have in the pipeline. Still nice video.. But that jet needs a better motor. It is also my understanding that if the jet gets in trouble it will auto eject the pilot and this is due to the way the canopy opens... Is this true?

@@joebloggs6594 So an engine is a specific type of motor. That's why it's not incorrect to speak of a motorboat, or a motorcar, or a motor speedway, even if the boat or car is clearly powered by combustion. Note that if there's no combustion, there's no engine. Purely electric cars don't have engines. As nouns, motor can also refer to a nonspecific agent that causes motion: "happiness is the aim of all men and the motor of all action", and engine can refer to something used to achieve a purpose: "an engine of change", a railway locomotive, or a machine used in warfare: "medieval engines of war". In a strictly physics sense an engine converts energy into mechanical work. A motor is a subset of engines that produce motion as the mechanical work. So all motors are engines but not all engines are motors. Sometimes they are used interchangeable eg. rocket engine and rocket motor. Motor is generally used for electrical devices but it's also used as an abbreviation for motorized eg. motorboat or motorcycle.
