Such a powerful and air - dominant beast. It looks great, flies beautifully and lends itself to incredible footage no matter the view angle. BTW, loved the BUFF tail sting supporting role appearance and Nellis AFB backdrop to the display flight was as good as it can get. Really, LOVED THIS VID!!!.

The reason for the vertical fins between the wings and the stabilizers make the F-18 looks very beautiful.

Great video! I also agree that it is a much better experience without commentating and overlaid music. The jet noise is beautiful enough! If I had the means, I could watch military jets fly around every day and I love how these "old" jets (F/A-18, F-15, F-16 and A10) aren't dying off, yet and still kicking butt!

It’s strange how the Navy never gave an F16 variant a chance (similar size, but faster and more maneuverable), but I believe the Navy required 2 engines as a prerequisite at the time. Funny how they’re sporting the single engine 35 now.

Tail codes that start with "N" or "A" is Navy. If I remember correctly the N signifies Pacific Fleet and A is Atlantic.
@trevorthomas16205 жыл бұрын
So the EA-18 Growler is for the Navy. It’s the replacement of the EA-6B Prowler for the Navy that retired. However the EA-6B is still used for the Marine Corp. That base is at MCAS Cherry Point, NC and the base for EA-18s are from NAS Whidbey Island in Washington.

No it didn't. Frighteningly expensive to maintain and fly. Was designed to protect the fleet - only gained bombing abilities in the latter years. Bled way too much energy on tight turns so couldn't dog fight with proper air combat jets. Hornet does all tasks with success. Too big and took up too much room on the deck - a carrier can carry almost 25% more Hornets in the same space. Blindingly unreliable - can't hold a candle to Hornet availability rates and ease of maintenance. The US Navy couldn't get the Hornets soon enough.
@dks63772 жыл бұрын
@@smeary10 but in dog fights the tomcats won 90 percent of the engagements.....it had a 500 mph higher top speed ...the hornet had a tighter turn ratio but that didn't matter when the tomcat could outclimb it by nearly 8,000 feet per minute
@dks63772 жыл бұрын
@@smeary10 my dad flew for VF-31 and in there 100 first mock dogfights the tomcats won 91-9 against the F-18 hornets and the super hornets they won the first 22 engagements before a loss in mock dogfighting

Yes Spencer these weapons of mass destruction might be thrilling for Americans at airshows. But imagine the terror they must invoke on innocent civilians when they appear overhead to destroy your country. Countries that have not attacked the US.
@DennisMerwood-xk8wp5 жыл бұрын
These jets, and the way they have been deployed in the US's illegal wars of aggression are immoral by any measure. The US military has killed 20-million people since WWI in these unprovoked wars. Many by aircraft bombing of civilians. Lobby your congressman to cut the military budget in half and approve all foreign interventions as required by the constitution. Reinstate the draft. Push for an end to this insanity.
