comparing this to the original is crazy. no comparison. Jaco's effortless flow on the fretless and his tone was impeccable. it was a complete extension of his vocabulary. he sang his life.

Maybe the amplifier cause the thick tone. Passive bass came with pedal preamp or amplifier can do that also.

nah, jaco's bass was restored and refinished some years ago and it's now owned by Metallica's bassist, Robert Trujillo (kinda dissapoiting imo)

@@cirnegro8938 The marks on it look like the real one. I"m wondering if this was done on purpose or if that is just how a J-bass wears (finish rubbed away) with a lot of playing. All of the dents and dings make me think it's the first. Maybe both?
