I think the reason it stopped hunting so early on is (spoilers for the kind of ghost it was) I think it stopped hunting because Brianna tried to take a picture of it, and Poltergeists dissapear when you try to take a pic of them, I didnt know that could stop them from hunting tho

I've learned a little trick with emf 5 and the activity board. When the activity board jumps up by 4 points, unless its a hunt, you have emf 5. The board is all collective activity, so if you have level 6 on the chart, and get emf 3, the emf board will give you a level 8 on the board. The reason the board is at 8 instead of 9 is because the reader starts at 1, and you just add the 2 that the emf has jumped up by instead of the starting 1 as well. The emf reader always starts at 1, and if the emf board jumps up by 4 at once, the emf should be at 5, because 1 + 4 = 5. If you want a better explanation, go check out insym's channel. Not as family friendly tho. Edit: the emf guide is family friendly, but the videos aren't too ff over all
