Beautiful, Tate! I had never heard this before. I did not expect to be surprised by Tarrega today! I found a score in the Delcamp Tarrega compilation, simply called "Preludio en re mayor" (page 162).

Thanks Eric! I just looked up the Delcamp version as well. It's marked at 84 BPM per quarter note while the score that I have is marked at 40 BPM per quarter note, along with a feel of "andante sostenuto". I wonder if mine is a typo and is supposed to be 40 BPM per HALF note...

@@tateharmann3057 I just posted a recording of it over on my channel. Nit sure about the tempo - I just call it the "feels right" tempo. Thanks so much for showing me this prelude! 😀

@@ericphillips7057 My pleasure! I just listened and commented! I added a link here to a recording from 2017 where I played it faster haha

Interesting, this prelude no longer feels incomplete to me when taken at this slower tempo -- I guess I've always rushed through it... Nicely played -- audio (and guitar) sounds good and warm to me. (I sympathise with you giving up on the single-take videos -- many times I have to do the same. It's a brutally honest way of recording.)

Thanks Steven! The tempo marking on my score is "Andante Sostenuto" with a bpm of 40 per quarter note. That seems insanely slow so I thought maybe it was a mistake lol. I've recorded this before at a faster pace and I do like it taken more slowly like it is here. Thanks for the sympathy, I shall keep trying!!

Beautiful performance! What is going on with your sound hole by the way?

Thanks! That's my second attempt at a removable tornavoz. I've got a couple of videos on how they change the sound, etc.

Great tone to this one, Tate! Sounds really authentic, or at least less "modern". Which Tarrega edition do you have? I have a copy of the Universal Edition sheet music.

Thanks Josh! Appreciate it. The book I learned this one from is called "Francisco Tárrega Complete Guitar Works" and is published by Les Productions d'OZ. What, if any, tempo indications are given on your edition?
