How did you manage to climb 6 ranks on Master difficulty on Mute City III? That's impressive.

Joe Romano Blue Falcons good acceleration and turning help a lot for this tight track. The CPU is not that strong on this track, just surviving the track itself is hard.

+FennorVirastar Do the generic AI machines have a name? I've never seen the four hero machines finish outside the top four. On Mute City III you beat a generic green AI to the line to take 3rd. I'm trying to find out if those machines have names...
@FennorVirastar8 жыл бұрын
I don't think that they have names. Their pace is just as good as the pace of the 4 main cars, at least on master mode, they just start further behind. So when the 4 main cars are blocked or crash the generic cars can easily overtake, and they will stay ahead as long as they won't crash, too.

As a kid I was so much better at F-Zero than I feel like I am now... But as an adult I have a much better understanding of racing in general. Maybe its time for a return to the game. I've never... mastered, Master class, but I think it might be a fun challenge using the stock game at least. These hacks are insane. Do you use an SNES USB controller or do you have a ROM loader for your SNES?
@FennorVirastar8 жыл бұрын
I played on my computer using ZSNES. I think in this video I used a PS3 Controller. I remember because in the Fire Field video of this hack I paused the game for a moment. I did that to switch to a keyboard, since for me controlling jumps is easier with a keyboard than with a D-Pad. Turning and pressing down (to have a smooth landing without losing speed) at the same time with only a thumb is harder to control. With a keyboard I can use two different fingers for turning and pressing down. Hard to say how much it helps to have a general understanding of racing for this game. I think Blue Falcon and Wild Goose are the closest to what you can consider realistic driving behaviour. It helps to make use of the whole width of the track to carry as much speed as possible through corners, while the Fire Stingray is more unrealistic and can simply stick to the inside of every turn at any time (for most turns), because it has enough grip to still make the turn without losing much speed. Also the AI can be very unpredictable, they drive on a line which no sane human being would ever consider.

I just remember I use to play as Golden Fox all the time and had no concept of outside, inside, outside, so I was just all over the place.

I have a personal theory, that the generic non racing vehicles, are the Wild Boar, with different colors (AKA The Chain Gang). Though they're considered just generic no name AIs, in F-Zero, in F-Zero X, Michael Chain's bio explains that he is a reckless driver, and he was a part of the big accident, that forced the F-Zero league, to go on a hiatus. Thus going from the "4 Years Later" F-Zero to FZX follow-up. Though that might be just me thinking that, and I probably might be wrong, too.

can you put all racers from the snes and GBA into f zero snes? mainly you pick 1 out of many vehicles, and all the others are at the back, with the three vehicles who were originally in that prix would be in 3rd, 2nd, and 1st.

That last track was just rotten, more luck than skill dodging those mines. Also the main racers controlled by the cpu don't hit them once when clearly you can see them going over them. The AI can be proper cheap in this.

@FennorVirastar11 жыл бұрын
Well, I think it is both, luck and skill. In better times I could dodge the mines in the beginning with a 50% chance. And I am sure a very skilled player can dodge them without any luck required. For the AI it is all about range. Only if you are close to them they can hit the mines.

It annoys me how fast the AI are at this game
@FennorVirastar3 жыл бұрын
On most track I am more afraid of surviving the track than beating the AI. On deathwind and mute city they can be pretty fast though. I like having fast AI, it is a racing game after all. If they are too fast you can still have fun on expert mode. I have seen too many hacks were AI speed was not touched at all and the racing aspect was totally irrelevant as they were too slow, except for some slow turns when they warp behind you at the wrong time.
