its crazy to think that this game runs at a constant 60 fps on the N64

They had to leave out a lot of background detail to achieve that. Notice that most of the detail is in the track and machines.

The f zero characters have a liver and onions dinner, it’s players choice. Mr ead eats spaghetti and meatballs, jack levin eats pancakes with powdered sugar, and micheal chain eats fried chicken.
