Great race! Some advice: - Watch out for engine temperature, when the engineer warns you it's because it's more likely to blow up in that particular race. In example, your engine temp indicator was permanently yellow throughout the whole race, it might have blown up. If you set up longer gears this will help, and also short shifting sometimes. - Try to accept offers before the season ends, normally Red Bull or Williams should offer you something with still 2-3 races before the end of the championship. From my experience it's very unlikely that you receive new orders at the very last race, therefore leaving you with the only choice of Toro Rosso or Midland or Super Aguri.

Turning the the joystick at full lock will make the car understeer, as you said. So yes, the car will steer better if you only turn the joystick at 10-50% lock. (50% as absolute maximum - or else the tyres will start to overheat and make that rubber vs. asphalt noice) It's kind of like you need to let the car do its' aerodynamics and not to overdrive the car as a driver. Btw, i believe that on this track, they drive laptimes of around 1:19.0 on hard difficulty so if you learn to be smooth and precise with the steering you'll do fine

Ben, there is a difference beetween tyres being up to temperature and tyres working on the track. Warm tyres doesn't mean that you will have a lot of grip. I must agree though that soft dry tyres on a wet track heating up to optimum temperature is bullshit.

I'd say that if the pad vibrates then you're under steering. When I used to play this game I used to use more half lock to prevent the pad from vibrating and I found that was faster.

I tend to find on a corner like turn 1 at Hungary full steering lock on the controller gives you not much difference but on a hairpin like Monaco or Montreal it gives quite a bit of understeer.

You can't get a new team if you restart career mode, since it asks you to audition for the original 3 teams. Try and win a few more races and maybe you can get an offer from Williams, Suaber, or even Honda.

tbf all I used to do was race like a real toro rosso driver, occasionally getting a point or two on hard difficulty. It doesn't matter how you perform, cos at the end if the season there are random team adverts that give you a trial. I used to save just after the last race of the season and just keep quitting and advancing until a trial offer from renault or mclaren came through. If you smash the trial you get a drive

You can do a lot better on your pit stops. Press the first 3 buttons simultaneously. Then L1 & R1 followed almost immediately by L2 & R2. Then repeat those 4, followed quickly by circle. Then Triangle & X simultaneously. And square to finish. I usually clock around 7.5 on my pitstops.

i haven´t play f1 2006 but(in f1 2012,13,14,15) the stearing will depend on if turned at rigth time, you can use full lock and it can put you on the edge and when starting the throttle could give you a spin easily but if you dont it gives a better exit . and yes please do a second season

Ben, in Q3 you CAN finish your lap after the timer runs out but not in Q1 and Q2!! Also if you're going to do just one more season after this, please don't restart the career! BUT if you intend to do at least two seasons after this one then I guess it would be better to restart on a harder difficulty.

Been playing this again recently and I think keeping the steering lock just before the fronts slide is faster than full lock, try keeping the vibration caused by the front tires from getting to max strength or at least for a short amount of time. I mostly keep my thumb on the analogue stick to be able to steer gradually and it serves me well for most games, especially these 2005/2006/championship edition games. Also, your great pace in this race I think was because you changed to dry soft tires but didn't change it back hence the heavy wear shown by the tire indicator being orange and yellow. while the hard difficulty is much harder they can still be beaten quite well on occasions. Has anyone had issues with this game crashing on ps3?

Full tilting of the stick will most likely slow you down, try tilting it slightly as you take the corner and stop about 8/10's of the full tilt.

Be careful with the starts ben, the lights in this game takes ages to actually go out and if you accelerate too much while waiting you're gonna damage your engine and lose power, take a look at the engine tempature on the graphic display.
